The students of St.Saviours School Ikoyi who made history at the COBIS music competitions in the Netherlands are back.
14 students of the school were sponsored by one of Nigerian leading financial institution, Zenith Bank Plc to participate in the COBIS Senior School Music Festival which took place between 3-5 May at The British School in The Netherlands.
The event which was held on May 3-5, 2019 presented itself a fantastic opportunity for the students to fly the flag of the country high among the league of schools from around the world through their musical education dexterity and they did not disappoint.
The educative and informative competition began with warm-up workshop led by renowned conductor, Dominic Peckham, after which the students were given choral, orchestral and band workshop from which they are later rated based on their performance of provided musical piece, where Zenith Bank sponsored Nigerian representative St. Saviours’ School, Ikoyi emerged First in the Choir Vocal Ensemble and came Third in Instrumental Ensemble; making her the first Nigerian and African School to win the competition
Meanwhile, the students were welcomed amidst funfair by Head Teacher St. Saviours School Ikoyi, Craig Heaton, Chairman Board of Management, Mr. Ade Laoye, Chairperson Co-Curricular Activities, Olayemi Edeki-Zenith Bank Group Zonal Head Ikoyi, Adobi Nwapa, and Head of Music, Mr Omole at the School premises.
