Super Eagles interim Technical Adviser, Austin Eguavoen, has resigned following his failure to lead the team to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Eguavoen’s resignation is coming two days after the Black Stars of Ghana clinched the ticket to Qatar in a contest between the two West African nations.
The Nigerian Football Federation made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday.
NFF said, “Following the failure of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the erstwhile Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from that position with immediate effect.
“The NFF has in the meantime withdrawn the two-and-half year’s contract offered the coaches and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew of the team with immediate effect.
“A new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately.
“We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.
Eguavoen who was appointed interim coach of the Super Eagles prior to the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2021, resigned the role to settle as technical adviser when Nigeria lost to Tunisia in the round of 16.
He has since then acted as the interim technical adviser, the position he had previously held.
The poor performance of the Super Eagles had led to the sack of former German coach, Gernot Rhor. The NFF had engaged the services of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro pending the outcome of the nations cup.

It could be recalled that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) disciplinary committee in May 2006 sanctioned Nigeria with a $5,000 for poor crowd control at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, where the Super Eagles hosted Egypt in a Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup qualifier in March.
The organisers of the match allowed a crowd of over 40,000 inside the stadium designed to hold 25,000 spectators.
The Super Eagles and the Pharaohs drew 1-1 in that encounter, with the Egyptians subsequently defeating Nigeria 1-0 in the return fixture to stop the Eagles from qualifying for the competition.

The Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich was poisoned along with Ukrainian negotiators, it has been claimed.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Vladimir Putin ally and Chelsea FC owner – who has been sanctioned by the UK government – was hit by symptoms after a suspected poisoning at a meeting in Kyiv earlier this month.
Abramovich, and at least two senior Ukrainian officials, are said to have developed peeling skin on their faces and hands, red eyes, and constant and painful tearing, the paper reported.
Quoting ‘people familiar with the matter’, it added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has met with Abramovich, was not been affected.
The lives of the Chelsea owner and negotiators are not thought to be in danger.
Widespread reports have previously suggested Russian forces are attempting to assassinate Zelensky, but it is unclear who the target of the alleged poisoning would have been.
Russia has been widely blamed for a series of poisonings around the world, including a Novichok incident in Salisbury, Putin critic Alexander Litvinenko and opposition figure Alexei Navalny.
The investigative media group Bellingcat said the incident took place overnight from March 3 to 4, with three people experiencing ‘symptoms consistent with poisoning with chemical weapons’ including Abramovich.
‘Abramovich, along with another Russian entrepreneur, had taken part in the negotiations alongside Ukraine’s MP Rustem Umerov’, it tweeted.
‘The negotiation round on the afternoon of 3 March took place on Ukrainian territory and lasted until about 10 pm.
‘Three members of the negotiating team retreated to an apartment in Kyiv later that night and felt initial symptoms – including eye and skin inflammation and piercing pain in the eyes – later that night.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has reacted to the current challenges faced at Chelsea.
The United Kingdom government had on Thursday frozen the assets of Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich.
The billionaire is one of seven wealthy Russian individuals who had sanctions placed on them by the government on Thursday.
The development has restricted the Blues from selling any ticket or merchandise and also stopping them from offering new contracts to players.
Feeling sorry for Thomas Tuchel’s side, Klopp said Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is responsible for Chelsea sanctions.
The German professional football manager while addressing the media on Friday, insisted no employee at Stamford Bridge is to blame.
Klopp has now agreed with the decision taken by the government.
He said: “I feel for him (Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel) and the players. It’s not a situation all the employees at Chelsea are responsible for.
“One man is and that’s Putin. I don’t know about Roman Abramovich’s role in all this, but you can say he is close. I think what the Government did is right.”
