Bandit kingpin, Dogo Saleh, killed by gang in rescue attempt – Police 12th March 2025

A 21-year-old notorious bandit leader, Salisu Mohammed, popularly known as Dogo Saleh, met his end at the hands of his gang members after being arrested by the operatives of FCT Police Command.

Dogo Saleh identified as a hitman for criminal gangs operating in Rijana Forest, Kaduna State, had been responsible for multiple kidnappings and killings along the Kaduna-Lokoja-Enugu highway.

The FCT command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, issued a statement on Wednesday stating that police acting on intelligence conducted a covert operation to intercept Dogo Saleh at Gidan Abe Forest on March 3, while he was en route to Bwari Area Council, FCT.

Adeh stated that during the initial encounter, police operatives arrested Dogo Saleh, recovering an AK-49 rifle, two magazines, 60 rounds of live ammunition, and ₦3m suspected to be ransom proceeds.

She added that after gathering from the arrested suspect, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command launched a follow-up raid on March 4, 2025, at a known bandit hideout in Kwasau Forest, Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State, where his gang, led by one Abdu Musa, alias “Kanabaro,” had established a major hideout.

She noted that operatives were ambushed by armed bandits attempting to free their leader.

“The operatives swiftly engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, displaying superior tactical expertise and resilience. The bandits were ultimately overpowered and forced to flee into the forest with severe gunshot wounds. The suspect sustained fatal gunshot wounds inflicted by his own gang during the crossfire. He was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead,” Adeh said.

Stating the criminal activities linked to Dogo Saleh, Adeh said he was responsible for the abduction of a police officer’s family and the killing of two security personnel in a January 5, 2025, attack at Kujama Market, Kaduna.

“Other attacks linked to Dogo Saleh include: Kyauta Village, Chikun LGA (two years ago) – Two individuals, including a security officer, were kidnapped. Ransom collected: Millions of Naira The officer was later killed. Kike Village (one year ago) – A security officer’s wife was kidnapped. Ransom collected: millions of naira; Bagada Village (five months ago) – Three individuals kidnapped. Ransom collected: millions of naira; Village near Kaduna Refinery (one year ago) – Two men kidnapped. Ransom collected: millions of naira; Bagado Village, Chikun LGA (eleven months ago) – Ransom collected: millions of naira and Dan-Bushiya Village (two years ago) – Ransom collected: millions of naira, “ she stated.

Adeh also said his gang was also known for working with the Ansaru terrorist group to procure weapons.
She stated that Boka, the overall commander; Sharmi (surname unknown), Deputy; Dogo Saleh, assistant; and Gudan, an assistant who operated a sub-camp in the forest, had been eliminated in separate operations.

“The bandits’ hideout was successfully dislodged. One officer, the Inspector of the FCT Anti-Kidnapping Unit, sustained minor injuries and has since been treated and discharged. No other casualties were recorded,” she added.

Adeh said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, praised the officers for their bravery and assured residents of ongoing operations to capture fleeing gang members.

He urged the public to report suspicious activities via police emergency lines.

EndSARS Anniversary: Saraki Tackles Govt Over 5 For 5, Other Promises Made During Protest

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has lamented that despite the EndSARS protest that rocked the country a year ago, nothing has really been done to resolve the issues that caused the protests in the first place.
Recall that the protest which lasted for days was staged by Nigerian youth due to incessant brutality meted out to them by operatives of the now-disbanded police unit called SARS.

On this day last year, it was reported that there was a mass shooting of the protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos, by personnel of the Nigerian Army, which led to the loss of lives.

While marking the first anniversary of the sad incident, Saraki said that his thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives, loved ones, sustained injuries, or sustained other losses at the Lekki Toll Gate.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his media office, Saraki urged Nigerians not to ever forget the #EndSARS protest that happened last year in some states of the federation and some parts of the world.

He said, “On the first anniversary of October 20th, 2020, like many Nigerians, I have struggled with coming to terms with the sobering events of that day.

“My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives, loved ones, sustained injuries, or sustained other losses at the Lekki Toll Gate and at various locations in Lagos and around the country when security agencies were deployed to clamp down on the protests and non-state actors took advantage to cause chaos and mayhem.”

The ex-Senate President continued, “It is worrying that despite the acceptance of the ‘5 for 5 Demands’, nothing has really been done to resolve the issues that caused the protests in the first place.

“None of the policemen accused of torturing and extrajudicially murdering Nigerian citizens have been brought to justice, there has been no marked improvement in the funding or quality of equipment available to the Nigerian Police Force and these incidents of torture continue in many security facilities nationwide.

“Furthermore, none of the perpetrators of the attacks on Nigerians exercising their rights to peaceful assembly have been arrested or prosecuted, despite many of them being identified.

“Similarly, none of the perpetrators of mindless acts of destruction and looting of property worth billions of Naira have been arrested or brought to justice. Instead, several young people are still held in detention facilities across the country without trial.”

Saraki stated that instead of the police to protect the citizen, the Nigerian Police have resorted to threatening the public.

“It appears that the lessons that ought to be learned from the events last year have been lost. This is why rather than mobilise to safeguard and protect citizens, the Nigerian Police have resorted to threats and mobilisation to prevent further expressions of dissatisfaction with the status quo. It is my sincere hope that common sense will prevail and the young people who seek to hold events to mark the first anniversary of the events at the Lekki Toll Gate will be allowed to peacefully gather and be protected from any forms of violence.

“The carnage that followed the attacks on protesters by security agencies and non-state actors must stand as a lesson to governments at all levels that they must learn to engage with the Nigerian populace in a manner that preserves and respects their constitutional rights and freedoms or face the risk of creating an atmosphere that enables a breakdown of law and order,” he said.

The ex-Senate President further appealed to the Nigerian government to reform the police and justice sector.

“Today represents an opportunity for the government to begin the police and justice sector reforms our country so badly needs. It is an opportunity I appeal to the government to take. This is the only way we can honour the memory of those who gave their lives for this cause,” he said.

Encouraging other youths to join in the demonstration today, Shagari who is only 33 years old took to his Twitter account on Wednesday and say: “#EndSARS was not a movement against anyone. #EndSARS: Only Buhari Has The Power To Order Deploy Soldiers – Gen. Reveals

A representative of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Ahmed Ibrahim Taiwo on Saturday said President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the deployment of soldiers to Lekki Tollgate on 20th October.

He said this under cross-examination by counsel to the Lagos State Government, Abiodun Owonikoko (SAN), while testifying before the Justice Doris Okuwobi Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution on the alleged atrocities of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

The army general admitted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu does not have the authority to give order to troops. He said he could only have made the request for them to be deployed.

General Taiwo also said it was not true that the Nigerian Army was looking to nab entertainer DJ Switch over the role she played in giving the impression that people were massacred at at the Tollgate plaza.

“Some people take delight in misrepresenting Nigeria and particularly the Nigerian Army to the international community and our fellow Nigerians. This, I believe is done for pecuniary gains.

“Quite recently, a Nigerian, Catherine Udeh, also known as DJ Switch, claimed the Nigerian Army was looking for her. There is nothing further than the truth.

“My Lord, we have bigger fish to fry; and that is how to stabilise Lagos. We can’t be bothered chasing one or two people. Where she got that from, I do not know, ” he said.

Explaining why the camera stopped working, Omomuwa said, “The major cause is because of network.”

“I can confirm categorically we never, ever, tampered with the CCTV. That is why we can get the footage.

“It remained there until about 8pm when it was tampered with and we couldn’t get anything.”The panel had last week paid an unscheduled visit to the Lekki toll gate as well as the military hospital in the Ikoyi area of Lagos. Angry Nigerian Youth Blast Bode George Says…You Can’t Use our Head again

Bode George

While we are mourning our departed comrades and strategizing on how to make sure their effort will never be in vain it will be wise to open our eyes so that those who have their own sinister agenda will not be playing on our emotions to use us to fight their perceived enemies.

I have listen to and read the recent outburst of former military Governor of Ondo State who is also a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode Ibiyinka George, who is tapping into the recent happenings to attract cheap publicity and try to resuscitate his moribund political voice.

There is a popular saying that “he who comes into equity must come with clean hands”. This and many more is the reason I have decided to list some of the things he ignored in the struggle before his diatribe on his perceived enemy and to this we will appreciate answers to the following burning questions;

• Where is Bode George when the protest lasted for 2 weeks and he did not make a sound about it?
• Why has he not condemned the decision of the President a fellow General who chose not to talk to us when we are demanding it?
• Why is he not condemning the military’s use of live ammunition around helpless protesters or is it an issue of once a military always a military?
• Why is he showing little or no concern about the lost lives?
• Is it true you made “Eko e ree” a term that means ‘you’ve been dupe’, popular in Ondo State when you empty their treasury as their military Governor between 1988 to 1990?

It is sacrilegious for Bode George who was a major part of the ruling PDP for 16 years to now jump on the train of numerous of the Nigerian youths he has over the years turned blind eye to their plight to campaign against that has made sure he’s not close to showing the good people of Lagos the hoodoo that comes with his administration of things.
