Nigerian Army releases statement on Major who committed suicide

The Nigerian Army (NA) has said that late Major Udiandeye Jeremiah Udiadenye who recently committed suicide had “an unblemished career” and was “never court-martialed” before his demise.

In a statement on Tuesday evening by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, authorities said the late officer who sadly terminated his life in Kaduna State, never needed to face any disciplinary process.

“The Nigerian Army (NA) has observed an obnoxious insinuation making the rounds on social media, alleging that late Major Udiandeye Jeremiah Udiadenye, terminated his life through suicide, because he was being interrogated or investigated by a military court martial in 1 Division, Kaduna,” the statement reads.

“Having lost one of its finest officers, the authorities of the Nigerian Army feel deeply concerned that unscrupulous persons under whatever guise would employ such sad occurrence to malign their own Army. Nevertheless, for the sake of posterity, it needs be mentioned that the late senior officer had an unblemished career in the military and never needed to face any disciplinary process.

“Until his demise, he was the Commanding Officer of 167 Special Forces Battalion at Giri in the FCT from where he led special operations to various commands including 1 Division.

“An appropriate Board of Inquiry has been instituted to ascertain what led to the tragic incident and its report will guide the NA on subsequent actions and measures to take to forestall a recurrence.

“The NA belongs to the Nigerian people and remains obligated to work along established guidelines as a responsible corporate entity. The general public is urged to disregard the ignorant piece making the rounds please.”

Outrage As Anambra Education Commissioner Calls Jobseeker ‘Idiot’, Government Reacts (Audio)

Government of Anambra has disclosed that an insulting statement made by Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the commissioner for education, was provoked by an applicant’s “uncouth” language.

TRIXX NG recalls that there were reports over the weekend that there was chaos in Nnewi, one of the venues for the second phase of the teacher recruitment exercise examination, which held on Saturday.

A voice recording, which has now gone viral, is said to be that of the commissioner speaking to an applicant for the teaching position on the exercise.

“Madam, you’re an idiot. You mean the computers are doing what? I received a report by 12 noon that you people refused to stand in line; you refused to be identified; you mobbed and you were all trying to get into the hall at the same time,” the voice said.

“You refused to be disciplined, up till this moment. And you have the effrontery, you stupid woman, to call me on the phone to talk rubbish. Will you get out of my phone, you filthy thing?

“You really want to be a teacher? How will you tell your students to conform to instructions when you cannot stand in line and move into the hall? You came for a test that will make you a teacher and you’re behaving like hooligans.”

Listen to the audio here.

Reacting, the governor’s spokesperson identified as Christian Aburime via a statement said Udeh’s remarks were provoked by the language of the said applicant.

“While the applicants at the Nsugbe Center sat for and ended their own examination at about 4:00 pm, those at the Unizik Center ended theirs by 3:30 pm, with some candidates joining them from the IDK learning Center, Awka,” the statement reads.

“Nnewi candidates did not commence their examination at the appropriate time owing to all manner of inappropriate conduct exhibited by some of the applicants. Not withstanding, they were eventually allowed to write the examination late in the evening.

“In respect to the video making the rounds on the social media space, members of the public need to be aware that it was an edited excerpt from a private phone conversation by an applicant who obviously failed the examination and out of frustration resorted to cursing and abusing the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, and the Commissioner for Education.

“The Commissioner’s comments were as a result of the uncouth language used by the applicant against the person of the Governor of Anambra State and other unprintable words hurled at the Commissioner.

“As public officers operating in the public space, the Commissioner has apologised for her inappropriate choice of words used in the said voice note.

“However, it is pertinent to reiterate that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo remains committed to the well being of Ndi Anambra and will not be distracted in availing deserving qualified teachers the opportunity to serve Anambra State and contribute in shaping the future of our children.

Bloomberg Interview: Buhari Evades Question On Blasphemy Killings In North

President Muhammadu Buhari may have missed an opportunity to assure the international community and Nigerians that the Federal Government is capable of quelling the recent rise in blasphemy-related killings and attacks and its threat to the country’s unity.

Buhari failed to satisfactorily respond to two questions posed to him by Bloomberg on how he feels about the killings and whether or not the country’s long-standing religious divisions could be worsened by them.

Bloomberg had asked “Are you concerned that people accused of blasphemy still get stoned to death on the streets in northern Nigeria?” and “What do these long-standing religious divisions mean for Nigeria’s future?”

The medium asked the questions against the backdrop of the lynching and burning of a Christian girl, Deborah Yakubu Emmanuel, a second-year student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto in May 2022.

A Muslim man, Ahmad Usman, was also recently stoned and burnt to death in Abuja over allegation that he blasphemed against Prophet Muhammad.

Two weeks ago, a sex worker in Lagos State was killed by one of her patrons for keeping the Quran in her room. A nurse, Rhoda Jatau, was also reported to have escaped lynching in Warji, Bauchi State, in a suspected blasphemy case.

These and other similar incidents are believed to have worsened the underlying ideological differences that the northern and southern parts of the country have struggled to close since the country gained independence in 1960.

Buhari, in the interview, avoided talking about the blasphemy killings which had triggered an outpouring of anger from religious and civil associations, including the Christian Association of Nigeria, Amnesty International, the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, and the Northern States Christian Elders Forum, amongst others.

The president merely repeated an earlier statement about citizens’ responsibility for law and order:

Bloomberg had asked: “Are you concerned that people accused of blasphemy still get stoned to death on the streets in northern Nigeria? What do these long-standing religious divisions mean for Nigeria’s future?

Buhari’s response: “No person has the right to take the law into his or her own hands.

“Christianity and Islam, our two Great Faiths and their Great Books have far more in common than they have apart. Nigeria has a long tradition of tolerance that we must draw on, and we must strive to find common ground. What comes out of this tragedy is to cherish what we share, while at the same time respect our differences.”

The president’s response to Bloomberg was no different from his reaction to the killing of Deborah Samuel contained in a statement issued by the State House on May 13, 2022.

Prophet Joshua Iginla Raises Prayers For Nigeria, Releases Strong Warnings Concerning 2023 Presidential Election ( Video)

The General Overseer Of Champions Royal Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla has raises an altar prayers for Nigeria over the forthcoming 2023 elections. And this is not unconnected to the grave vision he received concerning it. Aside the prayers which he enjoined both the youths, Christians and muslims to partake in, he also released strong prophetic warnings to Nigerians concerning the 2023 presidential elections.

During a live service at his South Africa branch, Prophet Joshua Iginla revealed that God spoke to him about sensitive things concerning the election especially on mysterious things that will happen and not the person that will emerge as the next president.

He started by appreciating the Youths for waking up and creating awareness on getting permanent voters card and commended Christian bodies for praying concerning the country.

Iginla reminded Nigerians of his 2022 new year prophecy that talked about the year being mysterious. He asserted that he stands by the word of God concerning the year, stating that God has only shown him part of what will happen.

‘’I know the moments are very sensitive in Nigeria and becomes of the sensitivity, God spoke to me about something very sensitive.I want to start by appreciating the youths of Nigeria for their gallant consciousness about the next election in 2023, Nigeria is a project in the hands of God and for the first time, the youths in my country woke up from their slumber, they are sensitive, matured, calculating, getting their voters card, May God strengthen you all.’’

‘’The Christian body; churches, pastors, prophets are also praying, so many school of thoughts, I want to appreciate everybody for what you are doing for this country. I remember saying at the beginning of this year that God spoke to me concerning 2023 and he said it is a year of mystery, I see light in darkness and darkness in light. I still stand on that position of what God said to me that we need to be very careful especially prophets, we should be very careful because it’s a mysterious year. Even me, I only see part of what God has shown me.’’

Prophet Joshua Iginla revealed that he is not going to mention the name of the next president of the country as he isn’t coming from that angle but what God has shown him which Nigerians need to pray about. He spoke in parables while noting that he is afraid to say what he saw.

Prophet Iginla asked Nigerians to pray for the current leaders to finish well and for the 2023 election to go smoothly without any roadblock and manipulation. He made it known that Nigerians need to pray against a conspiracy theory which is pregnant with a lot of meanings.

Continuing, He urged Nigerians to pray against the enemies of the country making moves that will make history repeat itself in an alarming form.

‘’Many are expecting me to mention a name but I’m coming from another perspective and this part is what we should pray about. I will speak in parable because I am afraid to say what I saw.’’

‘’Let us pray for our current leaders to finish well what they have started, let us pray for the 2023 election to go smoothly without any roadblock and manipulation. Let us pray against a conspiracy theory that I don’t want to explain, it is pregnant with a lot of meaning. While others are busy talking about who will become the next president, it is important we pray about this.’’

‘’Let us pray that the enemies will not throw Nigeria into total darkness before the election and after the election so that history will not repeat itself in an alarming form. Telling you the next president is not as important as this vision. Take note of everything I have said, when God reveals, he does to redeem, our prayers should be more that there should be no systematic failure.’’

Sunday Igboho Berates Olubadan Of Ibadan Over Ganduje’s Chieftaincy Title

Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has berated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, for conferring chieftaincy titles on the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and his wife, Prof. Hafsat at a ceremony attended by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Emir of Kano Ado-Bayero in Ibadan.

Recall, Governor Ganduje and his wife, Prof. Hafsat Ganduje, were on Saturday installed as Aare Fiwajoye of Ibadanland and Yeye Aare Fiwajoye of Ibadanland respectively by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun.

Reacting to the development, Sunday Igboho in the video that surfaced condemned the action, whilst urging the monarch to advise other traditional rulers against honoring those killing Yoruba people and destroying their property.

He said the struggle for the Yoruba Nation remained on course.

Watch the video below;

In response to the activist, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, in a statement by his spokesman, Mr Oladele Ogunsola advised Sunday Igboho to ask questions before jumping into conclusions.

The statement from the palace read, “The attention of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has been drawn to the trending video of the Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho condemning his Saturday’s conferment of chieftaincy titles on both the Governor of Kano State and his wife, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Prof. Hafsat Umar Ganduje respectively.

“In the said video shot at the palace of Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba, Francis Olusola Alao, Igboho was seen advising the monarch not to join the Yoruba Obas conferring Chieftaincy titles on people that do no merit them and that Olugbon should advise his colleague Obas to desist from such.

“Although, there’s no particular mention of either the name or title of Olubadan in the said video, the fact that the Saturday occasion was being referenced was not hidden.

“As much as the Yoruba Nation activist is entitled to his opinion as well as a conviction on the Yoruba Nation project, he must concede to the fact that others too have the right to do certain things that in their wisdom are considered helpful to Yoruba cause.

“It must be placed on record that the present Olubadan is too refined to be seeking for who to honour with chieftaincy title for whatever purpose. But, when a case was made for the Kano State first couple by the Yoruba community in the ancient Kano city through their head, Alhaji Muritala Alimi Otisese and the adduced reasons were considered on their merit, Kabiyesi gave his consent.

“Even, as claimed in the video by Igboho that the Yoruba Nation project remains on course, do we close our eyes to whatever may be the interest of our kith and kin in other parts of the country?

“Here is a man (Governor Ganduje) said to have been compassionate to the Yoruba people in his domain. Presently, Dr Ganduje is undertaking an auditorium project at the Premier University, the University of Ibadan where he bagged his doctorate degree.

“As Kabiyesi noted at the installation ceremony on Saturday, the Kano State helmsman has proved himself a peace-loving person with the manner he flew down to douse tension at Sasa Market, here in Ibadan about two years ago when the crisis broke out at the market between Hausa traders and Sasa natives. We must not forget also that the Gandujes are Ibadan’s in-laws.

“It is advisable that Igboho asks questions before forming an opinion on anything that has to do with Yoruba as a nation to avoid the hasty conclusion.

“The fact that some people from the northern part of the country have taken to crimes and criminality doesn’t mean all northerners are criminals. What’s even more, if and when the Yoruba Nation project comes to be, are we saying there won’t be an interaction between the Yoruba people and others in the country again? I doubt it so much.”
