During the visit, NASRE congratulated the newly appointed Customs Area boss, Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu, on his assumption of office. The association lauded his leadership qualities and expressed optimism about his ability to enhance the command’s operational efficiency.

Welcoming the NASRE delegation, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Hammed Bujoye Oloyede reiterated the commitment of Comptroller Shuaibu to the core mandates of Ogun 1 Command, which include revenue generation, border security, and trade facilitation.

Just In: Speaker Obasa Debunks Allegation Of Spending N17b On Assembly Gate

Just In: Speaker Obasa Debunks Allegation Of Spending N17b On Assembly Gate

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, on Thursday described the allegation that the House spent N17 billion on the fixing of a gate as spurious and funny.

A self-proclaimed group, Lagos State Anti-Corruption Coalition, had accused the Assembly of spending the amount to construct a gate. The group also sought investigation of the claim.

Speaking at plenary, Dr. Obasa said the allegation stemmed from the fear of some people over 2027 which is still more than two years away.

Obasa further debunked the claim that the House spent N200 million on its recently organised 22nd thanksgiving service for staff.

“It is so funny. How much is the allocation of the Assembly in the whole year that we will decide to spend N17 billion on a gate? They even claimed that we expended 200 million on thanksgiving that did not hold.

“We are aware that at a period like this when we are approaching elections in 2027, we should expect such things. I think some people are scared and I don’t know why.

“This House did not and has not embarked on any such project. We are not that reckless. We had our thanksgiving last Friday and dignitaries from various parts of the State attended it,” the Speaker said.

Addressing further claims by the group about the alleged relationship between him and the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, the Speaker denied attending the latter’s screening and confirmation by the National Assembly.

“They said that I was at the National Assembly when they were confirming the EFCC chairman. I want to believe that there are CCTV cameras at the National Assembly to identify those who attended the event. The press must have written about it too. So the group should do more to confirm if I was there.

“This is just to deny the allegations in the interest of the public and not the writers because the writers are not those we should be joining words with,” the Speaker said.

Earlier, the House, through its spokesperson, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, had addressed the allegations noting that the Assembly bases its activities on integrity, transparency and accountability.

“It is ludicrous the claim about constituency intervention funds and constituency project funds and their handling by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko as claimed by the group.

“One would have expected a self-acclaimed anti-corruption crusading group to do its groundwork before jumping across the fence with conviction that it hit a jackpot to malign an institution of repute in the name of politics.

“Simply put, the Lagos State House of Assembly does not have any such funds. The Assembly does not embark on constituency projects. Instead, once every year, the House holds stakeholders’ meetings simultaneously across the state where constituents have the opportunity to tell the lawmakers their expectations and make requests for the betterment of the state.

“These requests and expectations are compiled and sent to the executive arm of government for consideration as inputs in subsequent budgets. If this is what the group takes as constituency intervention or project funds, we are sure this explanation has given the required education, moreover, it is common knowledge that it is the responsibility of the Executive arm to execute such projects,” the earlier statement by Ogundipe read.

Tinubu Working To Bring Smiles To Nigeria, Obasa Says

Tinubu Working To Bring Smiles To Nigeria, Obasa Says

– as Methodist Archbishop advocates for Muslim governor in 2027

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has urged Nigerians not to despair as the administration of President Bola Tinubu is working to resolve the country’s challenges.

“The outgoing year is indeed a challenging one, especially considering the economic situation of the country. Nevertheless, we have solace in the fact that the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is not leaving any stone unturned to bring us to our promised land.

“Mr. President is busy doing everything possible to put smiles on our faces. Trust me, succour is coming. I urge us to keep the hope alive,” Dr. Obasa said during the Assembly’s 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Service with the theme: ‘The Voice Of Mercy’.

At the event which had officials from the various arms of the state government, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), traditional rulers and guest preachers, the Speaker urged Nigerians to enter 2025 with renewed passion and vigour.

Quoting from various portions of the Bible, Dr. Obasa said the country had reasons to thank God for His mercies, love and faithfulness.

“In times like these, when the world can seem overwhelming and uncertain, it is crucial to remember the enduring message of mercy and grace that is ever-present in our lives. Indeed, it is through God’s mercy that we find strength, solace, and renewal.

“May we acknowledge God’s sovereignty and mercy in our lives, recognising that our blessings and successes are not solely the result of our efforts, but rather a manifestation of God’s mercy and compassion,” he said while urging citizens to also learn to show mercy to one another.

In his sermon, Most Rev. Isaac Ayo Olawuyi, Archbishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria (Lagos), urged Nigerians to be merciful to one another in line with God’s instruction.

“When the mercy of God is upon you, all protocols are be broken. All things are possible by the mercies of God. We receive forgiveness of our sins from Him by His mercies. The nation needs God’s mercy and it is by His mercy that we can overcome our predicaments and our shortcomings.

“How many people have you helped and taken care of? Go and show love and mercy,” he said.

He praised the Speaker for his leadership and collaboration with the other arms of government saying these have kept the state strong.

“You have been a true and sensitive leader with a big heart. You have proved yourself worthy. We pray that God will continue to use you to make us smile in Lagos and also grant you your heart desires,” he said while commending President Tinubu for the steps he has taken so far.

The Archbishop ended his sermon with an advocacy for a Muslim as the governor of Lagos in 2027 arguing that this was in the spirit of religious tolerance.

“I also want to add that we have consideration for religious inclination in Lagos State. It would be 12 years in 2027 that we have been in the system together and we have been having Christians as governors.

“Now, it’s time to give our Muslim brothers a chance to govern us in Lagos State. We want to pray that when it’s time for the election, it would be a time for us to elect who will govern us in Lagos State effectively,” he said.

Aliu Gafar Delivers a Stellar Performance as Esusu in Seven Doors

By Rtn. Victor Ojelabi

The much-anticipated movie series Seven Doors by Femi Adebayo has finally premiered, currently showing on Netflix, captivating audiences with its intricate storytelling and compelling characters.

The movie begins with a haunting scene of seven women under a mysterious spell leaping to their deaths from a waterfall, setting the tone for a gripping tale that unravels in Ilara Kingdom.

The series explores various societal issues, including corruption, greed, gluttony, family values, malicious conspiracies, and the delicate balance of law and order.

Central to its plot is the calamitous fate of Oba Adedunjoye, the Onilara of Ilara, whose failure to perform traditional rites—symbolised by knocking on seven doors—unleashes devastating consequences on his kingdom.

At the heart of this chaos is Esusu, a malevolent and exiled villain whose return wreaks havoc.

Esusu, a ni ohun t’Eledumare o ni.
Eledumare o ni ika, ika ni Esusu

The character of Esusu, pivotal to the story’s depth, is masterfully brought to life by Aliu Gafar.

Gafar’s first appearance, late in Episode 2, immediately shifts the narrative, introducing a chilling force that spares no one, not even the royal family. His commanding portrayal encapsulates the essence of Esusu, a man whose wickedness defies comprehension.

The backstory reveals Esusu’s sinister pact with Ọba Adejuwọn, an ancestor of Adedunjoye.

Desperation led Adejuwon to seek Esusu’s help to evade death—a move that came at an unthinkable cost, forgetting that bi alọ ba lọ, abọ nbọ (a pendulum that swings to is still coming to swing fro).

Esusu’s return demanded not only royal treatment but the freedom to live as he pleased, challenging the very fabric of the kingdom.

Gafar embodies this complex character with remarkable precision, delivering a performance that is both chilling and unforgettable.

With almost two decades in Nollywood, Aliu Gafar has solidified his reputation as a versatile and dedicated actor.

His extensive filmography includes acclaimed productions such as Jagun Jagun, Anikulapo, Iyalode, Eefin, and Omo Ajele.

His role in Seven Doors further cements his legacy as a master of his craft, showcasing his ability to seamlessly portray multifaceted characters.

The Yoruba actor has also garnered accolades for his work, including the Best Actor award at the Dallas International Yoruba Movies Awards for his role in Peregun.

His commitment to the industry and his talent for captivating performances continue to make him a force to be reckoned with in Nollywood.

In Seven Doors, Gafar’s nuanced performance as Esusu elevates the series, demonstrating his ability to command attention and bring depth to a complex narrative.

His contribution to the Nigerian film industry remains invaluable, and his portrayal of Esusu is a testament to his enduring excellence.

… Praise Altar Hallel Night to Feature 20 Gospel Artists in Live Performance
~By Oluwaseun Fabiyi

The Genesis Global 2024 harvest of turning point has arrived, promising to be an outstanding harvest among others, with the harvest committee, led by the popular Prophet of God, Israel Oladele Ogundipe, announcing the program schedule for a remarkable harvest of turning point

Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, fondly referred to as Genesis, is a highly esteemed and prominent prophet of God, whose significant contributions have positively impacted the Christian community in Nigeria, Africa, Europe, and specific regions within Nigeria, where he has consistently demonstrated exceptional kindness towards community development

Undeniably, Genesis Global’s annual Harvest has been a standout occasion, remarkable and exceptional in every way, and this year’s annual Harvest of turning point is anticipated to surpass all expectations, being the most memorable event so far

Only someone who is uncertain would still not believe the outcome of the Harvest of Turning Point and the large audience that would gather at Genesis Global Headquarters, located in Duro Ishola Street, off Egbado road Dalemo Alakuko Street, Lagos

Recall the magnificent program Genesis, the prophetic seer, organized a few months back. Tagged the Abeokuta Prophetic Invasion, it attracted over 10,000 worshipers from Ogun and Lagos States. The most astonishing aspect of the 3-day program was that the easy-going prophet of God did not request offerings, tithes, or seeds of offering

If such an invasion could be the talk of the town within Ogun and Lagos State, people will begin to wonder how the 2024 harvest of turning point will look like with visitors coming from far countries like the USA, France, UK, Germany, and even from the Presidency, demonstrating the positive impact of Prophet Genesis Israel Oladele Ogundipe on nation-building

As of the time this report was prepared, Oluwaseun Fabiyi, publisher of BethNews Media and media aide to Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, attests that luxury hotels in Sango Otta, Abule Egba, Iyana Ipaja, and the Alakuko area have been fully booked for this event, with more people still flocking in

The 2024 annual Genesis Global Harvest of turning point will officially commence on Monday, the 9th of December, featuring Israel Oladele Foundation’s complimentary medical screening, including blood pressure, sugar level, eyes, malaria, and thyroid screening, alongside various church midweek activities running through Thursday

The Israel Oladele Foundation is set to launch its food banking initiative on Friday, 13th of December, targeting the less privileged, including some widows and widowers, with empowerment programs to promote their welfare, aligning with Genesis Global’s mission. As the evening of that Friday approaches, a powerful praise night, tagged ‘Hallel Night’, will take place at the Dominion City ground, located at Duro Ishola Street, off Dalemo Alakuko, Lagos State. However, it is an understatement to say that the Dominion City grounds can accommodate over 20,000 worshippers from various denominations across countries

The ‘Hallel Night’ of praise is an annual event, part of the Genesis Global Harvest, demonstrating the Church’s and its members’ deep appreciation to the living God, the ultimate Father of the Harvest. Notable gospel artists, including Mega 99, Dare Justified, Big Bolaji, BBO, Chigozie Wisdom, Segun Johnson, Image, Dare Oxygen, Moses Harmony, Engovisions, Joshua Israel, Ebunoluwa Sings, Olamilekan, and others, are fully prepared to lead quality worship and praises to the King of glory

The Hallel Night Praise Altar is set to begin at 9pm sharp and continue until morning, offering a wonderful, fascinating and outstanding time of praise dedicated to God’s glory

Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe encourages all attendees to be adequately prepared to establish their personal praise altars during the forthcoming Friday Hallel Night, as lavish blessings will emanate from the praises, resulting in remarkable healings, including the lame regaining mobility and the blind receiving sight

The grand finale of this event is scheduled for Sunday, 15th of December 2024, where thousands of worshipers will assemble inside the church auditorium at Genesis Global Headquarters, located at Duro Ishola Street, off Egbado Road, Dalemo Alakuko Street, Lagos, for a special harvest of thanksgiving, during which some respected and great anointed men of God will prophesy into the lives of those in attendance

That particular Sunday promises to be exciting as Mega 99, a prominent gospel musician, takes the stage to mesmerize the audience with his soulful voice and energetic dance steps amidst a host of other engaging activities.

Additional information will be forthcoming as the event progresses
