The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has revealed how he was removed as governor of Anambra State in 2005.
The Minister said he was ousted from office because he refused to obey his political godfathers and decided to develop the state.
Ngige said his impeachment was the consequence of his disobedience to the godfathers, who had asked him to open the state treasury for them.
The former Anambra governor made the disclosure on Saturday in Akwa after he was conferred with a royal title by the Traditional Ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu.
Ngige, who was conferred with the title of “Onyili Mmagba,” disclosed that his erstwhile godfathers were behind his abduction and almost ruined his political career because he was disobedient.
With huge debts, the minister said he was able to construct infrastructural projects, ensure that the state was peaceful, reformed the public service sector, prioritised workers and pensioners welfare and sustain the state financially.
Ngige added that he decided to work for the people and develop the state as a governor and has no regret about his actions.
He said, “I decided to work for the Anambra people and that became the main crux of the problem. Will you stand and work for the people or the godfathers? So, I stood with the people and worked for them.
“Before I came into office, Awka was a village but we transformed the village to a befitting capital city. We brought infrastructural development and introduced reforms in the public service. We tarred all the roads in the GRA, Awka. We dualised Nnamdi Azikiwe Road and put streetlights on them. We repaired the water scheme and got water running in three-quarters of the city including Akwata.”
The General Evangelist Worldwide of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Prophet Samuel Kayode Abiara, had told Nigerians to shun prophets of doom.
He spoke during the New Year Service held simultaneously by Christian and Muslim faithful at the Lagos House in Marina.
The cleric prayed for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his family, members of the State Executive Council and Lagos State.
He urged the people not to listen to prophets of doom against Nigeria and her leaders at the national and state levels.
“Don’t listen to prophets of doom against Nigeria, our nation and the leaders. Don’t listen to prophets of doom against Lagos State. The future of Nigeria and Lagos State is bright,” Prophet Abiara declared.
Former Vice-Chancellor of the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State, and Bishop of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Prof. Dapo Asaju noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu has shown good leadership in Lagos State.
In his message, titled ‘God, the rulers and the people’ Asaju said: “Sanwo-Olu has done very well, and prayed that the governor will finish well and be celebrated like the late first civilian governor of the state, Alhaji Lateef Jakande.
“The Bible tells us that when the righteous are in power, the people will rejoice. We are rejoicing in Lagos State because we have a godly governor.
“If I can assume the role of the good people of Lagos State, I will like to pass a message across to Governor Sanwo-Olu that we love you, we appreciate you and we are proud to be your subjects. We thank God for what He is doing in your life.
“Mr. Governor, you have been running this administration very well. You have done very well but your tenure is going gradually and as another election is coming, there shall be a new song. You will finish well and you will be celebrated.
“Like Lateef Jakande was celebrated, you will be celebrated and the glory of the future would be greater.
“People will decide the kind of governor they have.
“So, people of Lagos should better open their eyes and pray for another governor like this, and I pray that God Almighty will give you the grace even to continue in the name of Jesus Christ.
“If it is a political statement, I say it with every sense of confidence that God Almighty will give you the possibility to perfect what you have started in Jesus name.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who said Lagos has a brighter future, urged members of his cabinet to work toward achieving the Greater Lagos agenda.
Reading the second lesson from Philippians 3:12-16, the governor charged to lead with the fear of God, make good things out of their life and ensure that people remember them for good.
He said: “Let us open a new chapter and know that the new chapter is about togetherness. They have said to us that we all have a brighter future.
Our state has a bright future. But it is really for us to open our eyes very well and see the bright future. We should connect to God Almighty and ask for His direction in everything we do.”
Speaking at the Muslim prayer, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, assured Nigerians of a better life in 2022, and asked all religious leaders to continue emphasising religious tolerance.
He said only unity, peace and love can engender prosperity in any society.
“It is practically difficult, if not impossible, to achieve prosperity where insecurity permeates in any society.
“I, therefore, urge every Nigerian to support the government in her quest for socio-economic and political development.
“The THEMES agenda of the Sanwo-Olu administration encompasses every aspect of the life of every Lagos resident.
“Therefore, we solicit the support of everyone so that our noble objectives may be a reality,” he added.
New Year: Let’s Unite To Make 2022 A Better Year For Nigeria, Obasa Urges Citizens
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has urged residents of the state and the citizens of Nigeria to enter the New Year with renewed vigour and hope for a better 2022.
Dr. Obasa gave the advice in his New Year message to Nigerians while praising the resilience of the citizens of the country in the face of the various challenges that came with 2021, especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic that has continued to ravage the world.
The New Year, Obasa noted, holds a lot of promises for the citizens, “but all that we need is the collective decision to unite, fight against our common enemies and work towards making our nation a greater place to live in.”
The Speaker, who noted that Nigeria is a great country peopled by hardworking and passionate men and women determined for success, urged the citizens to continue to play roles that would put the country in positive light.
“While I congratulate Nigerians, I dare say that together, we can make a better country happen just like we are making good things happen in Lagos, the economic centre of Nigeria. Today, no doubt, Lagos is one of the most peaceful states of the federation despite its population and factors that make it a mega-city.
“The successes recorded by Lagos State in 2021 happened because of the cordial relationship between the arms of government, the determination of the government to scale whatever hurdles it had before it as well as the support and cooperation from residents.
“At the Lagos Assembly, we ensured that our activities, bills, motions and resolutions had to do with the happiness of the residents, their safety, and the protection of lives and property as enshrined in the constitution.
“Just days ago, we passed the 2022 budget to enable the government hit the New Year running. We also passed the bill establishing the Lagos State University of Education to encourage more prospective teachers and make it easy for them to get employed upon graduation so that they can make positive impacts on the society.
“In the course of 2021, we passed other important bills that have helped to keep Lagos at its enviable position.
“The Lagos State House of Assembly with very brilliant and zealous representatives, would continue to be at its best in 2022,” Obasa promised as he congratulated residents of the state and Nigerians.
The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Bello, has tested positive for COVID-19.

“I appeal to all those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 to do so.”
The Oyo State Joint- Security Task Force, Operation Burst, has recovered some stolen Apple phones from a suspect at Sabo area of Ibadan.
Operation Burst comprises of soldiers and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The security outfit, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, said the recovery was made during its raids on black spots and hideouts for criminals in Ibadan.
Director General of Oyo State Joint Security Task Force, Operation Burst, Colonel James Oladipo (retd.), confirmed that 23 Apple-phones were recovered from the suspect, who is now at large.
Oladipo said that this was part of the outfit’s efforts to protect lives and property in the state especially at this festive period.
“We have been on the trail of criminals who have been terrorising citizens and residents at strategic locations, especially in the Sabo area of Ibadan, the state capital.”
He said that a surveillance team of the joint security task force, recently, raided some ‘blackspots’ in Ibadan where the i-Phones were recovered.
Oladipo therefore called on victims who were recently robbed of their i-Phones within Ibadan to come forward with proof of ownership to reclaim them.
The Director General, while assuring the public of the task force’s immediate response to distress calls, urged them to give useful information that will aid security agencies in performing its duties.
Col. Oladipo also added that the outfit is in synergy with other sister security agencies.
It’s sad news again as reports say death has struck again as popular clergy and Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Lagos, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya has lost his beloved twin sister, Mrs. Kehinde Hassan née Odukoya.
This comes a few weeks after Pastor Odukoya’s wife, Nomthi Odukoya, lost two years of battle to cancer.
The death of Hassan was confirmed by Odukoya’s daughter via her Facebook page.
She wrote: “My Dearest Aunty K, my birthing partner and one of my closest aunties…
“You were always there for me when I needed my mother the most.
“You held my hand and encouraged me…
“To say I will miss you is such an understatement.
“Rest on Aunty, love you.”
According to available information, Hassan died of complications from cancer on Thursday the
30th.
It has been a very challenging and painful year for the amiable Man of God.
This year 2021 was the 16th anniversary of the passage of his beloved first wife, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya in an ill-fated Sosoliso flight of 2005.
In November of the same year, the Pastor also lost his second wife, Pastor Nomthi Odukoya after a protracted illness she fought for almost two years.
The 47-year old mother of 2 was married to the famous preacher for 11 years before the cold hands of death snatched her away.
As she was just getting over the devastating loss of his better half, the sad news of the passing of his twin sister (Kehinde) at the age of 65 filtered in.
The alleged move by the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, to become the ‘Oba of Oshodi’ has elicited a flurry of reactions.
His eligibility to the throne has become a subject of discussion on various social media platforms.
A trending image of MC Oluomo in royal regalia seen by The Nation shared last month also stirred the controversy.
But The Nation learnt MC Oluomo is an Awori from Oshodi. He is also an indigene of the town whose grand-uncle Seidu Akinsanya, was a Baale of Oshodi.
Also, it was gathered that MC Oluomo has been at the forefront of the struggle to upgrade the chieftaincy in Oshodi from Baaleship to Obaship for over a decade.
Of recent, MC Oluomo has been trending on the social radar for different activities.
He recently became an honorary member of the Institute of Corporate Public Sector Professionals (ICPSP).
A photo of the book cover with the title in his name “My Service to Humanity: A Life Changing Experience” surfaced online.
The royal family of Olushi Onigbesa has appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to stop MC Oluomo from becoming king.
The head of the royal family, Kabiru Eyantan, said in a statement that if urgent action is not taken, it “may cause bloodshed” in Oshodi community.
“The attention of the Olushi Onigbesa royal family of Oshodi Awori Kingdom has been drawn to the picture of Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, chairman, NURTW in Lagos state, circulated on numerous social media platforms where he was dressed in traditional kingly attire intended for an Oba in Yorubaland,” Eyantan said.
“Our attention has also been drawn to the trending videos and news in social and conventional media with reference to the message delivered by a first-class Oba in Ikorodu division at the coronation anniversary of Oniba of Iba Kingdom in Iba Town, Ikeja division on the issue of intended aspiration of Akinsanya to become Oba of Oshodi.
“We plead with the Lagos state government to avert communal crisis, breakdown of law and order and bloodshed in Oshodi community, if urgent action is not taken by our proactive and peace-loving governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to stop MC Oluomo from soliciting to become the Oba of Oshodi or laying claim to the Obaship stool.
“To put the record straight, we state that the tribunal of inquiry into chieftaincy matters in respect of the upgrading Baale of Oshodi to first-class Obaship status was set up by Lagos state government and lasted between January 2003 and December 2008 and the tribunal recommended that the Olushi Onigbesa royal family of Oshodi land is the only family eligible and entitled to the stool of the Oba of Oshodi.
“Alhaji Akinsanya is not a member of the Olushi Onigbesa royal family in Oshodi land and has no right to be the Oba of Oshodi stool and therefore is not eligible to aspire or to be appointed to the stool of Oba of Oshodi.”
Although, MC Oluomo is yet to officially react as of the time of report, it was learnt that the media would be briefed over the issue on Sunday.

He stated that an argument occurred between the deceased identified as Muhammed Ahmed and the fashion designer. The argument became heated and led to Oyapitan breaking a bottle and using it to stab Ahmed on the neck.
He said: “Upon the distress call, the DPO Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele job, quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene where the victim was met in the pool of his own blood. Sometime ago I brought you the story of one MFM pastor based in Austria that Maureen Badejo accused of fraud and stealing in her various social media channels, even after learning that an investigation was done about the matter and the pastor was given a clean bill of judgment by the Austrian police.
Interestingly, today the judgement of that matter has been successfully registered in the United Kingdom and the consequences of this is that;
1 she needs to retract all her statement about Mr. Omowanile regarding any form of accusation libel and image assassination
2 A statement should be made that all her accusations were wrong, and this should reflect in all her social media platforms
3 Maureen Badejo is to pay the legal fees of the sum of 4930 euros
4 she should refrain from mentioning any thing regarding the pastor Omowanile and anything that concerns MFM Austria.
2022 seem to be starting with legal problems for this woman and I would like bloggers and news drifters to learn from this obvious self-inflicted disaster.
If you are a blogger, and you don’t do your due diligence of sourcing proper facts or authentic stories before disseminating them. know that your troubles will meet you when you bounce off the wrong people
Maureen Badejo obviously took more than she can chew by touching the fire of God and trying to make a mockery of mountain of fire and miracles ministries and their GENERAL OBERSEER like she has always done with other ministries and gotten away, but it getting clearer that when God is with a man or a ministry, the truth will always prevail it will only take time
We are still investigating the judgement of the 100,000 pounds she is to pay to the OLUKOYAS of MFM, we will let you know how that is going maybe a special jail awaits her this 2022.
