The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has charged President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to talk about Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi over his alleged link to bandits.
The Peoples Democratic Party Governor stated this while reacting to the rearrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Diri while speaking on Channels TV said the Islamic cleric has become untouchable, adding that it was very unfair.
The Bayelsa State Governor said, “Two things I have to say.”
“First, they should give him [Nnamdi Kanu] a fair hearing so that the trial will not be done in a way that everyone (especially the Igbo) will see it as oppression.”
“Second, as we talk about the IPOB, what about the boys (bandits and herdsmen) organising killings in the North and in the whole country? What of Sheik Gumi? He has become somebody no one can touch. That’s very unfair.”
Gumi recently warned the Buhari administration against the killing of bandits, insisting that the criminals are victims too.
He further stated that no school is safe in the North West for now until the government negotiates with the bandits.
Gumi’s statements raise questions on why the federal government has not arrested him.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that a former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Adedibu Ojerinde be remanded in prison custody.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in a ruling on Tuesday, ordered that Ojerinde be kept in a correctional facility pending the hearing of his bail application, scheduled for July 8.
Justice Egwuatu gave the ruling after Ojerinde, dressed in white native attire, was arraigned on an 18-count charge, marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/97/2021, in which he was accused, among others, of complicity in the diversion of public funds estimated at over N5.2billion.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission(ICPC) said Ojerinde committed the alleged offences, contained in the charge, from 2003 when he served as the Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO) till 2021.
Ojerinde pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
His lawyer, Peter Olorunnishola (SAN), subsequently informed the court about a bail application he filed and served on the prosecution.
Olorunnishola however sought time to react to the counter-affidavit filed by the lawyer to the prosecution, Ebenezer Shogunle, which the defence lawyer said was served on him late.
Shogunle, who did not object to Olorunnishola’s request for time, opposed the defence lawyer’s application that his client be allowed to remain on the administrative bail, earlier granted him by the ICPC, pending the hearing of his bail application.
A court in Austria has given judgment to the case between Maureen Badejo and an Austrian MFM PASTOR kayode Owoduni Omowanile.
If you will recall sometime last year, Maureen Badejo was running her mouth by levying fake allegations on different pastors of MFM around the world including the General Overseer of the ministry by slandering and alleging fraud and theft by means of peddling fabricated stories.
Anyway, to cut the story short, she was sued by one of the accused and the Judgments is what you will find below.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) is reportedly considering the former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, for promotion.
According to TheCable, the PSC wants to promote Magu to the rank of assistant inspector-general (AIG).
But the Presidency is said to be worried about the “defiance” of PSC which may create the impression that Ibrahim Magu is being rewarded despite the damning report by a presidential panel on him.
Magu, who was promoted to commissioner of police in 2018, had been recommended for removal as EFCC boss by the Justice Ayo Salami panel, which also asked that he be prosecuted over allegations of abuse of office.
The panel had specifically recommended that Magu should be removed “for failing to properly account for N431,000,000.00 security votes/information fund released to the office of the Executive Chairman of EFCC between November 2015 and May 2020”.
He was also accused of causing “disappearance of evidence, stoppage and suppression of cases under investigation and prosecution, and omitting to arrest suspects” in cases involving a former deputy senate president and a former MD of Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC).
The panel recommended that Magu should be referred to the inspector-general of police for “necessary disciplinary action”.
However, since the panel submitted the report in November 2020, only a few of the recommendations have been implemented.
A new chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, was appointed in February 2021 while several police officers were recalled to the headquarters.
Magu, who has been in limbo since his probe by the panel, is believed to be in the good books of the PSC chairman, Musiliu Smith, a former inspector-general of police from Lagos state.
