IGP’s WIFE HAJIA USMAN Blows Hot, declares war on beer parlour owners in Police barracks Nationwide

President of the Police Officers Wives Association and wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Hajia Haraja Usman Baba, has decried the proliferation of beer parlours in Police barracks, describing it as a bad influence on children and the future of Nigeria.

To address this, she disclosed that she would immediately send a signal to the Force headquarters for the outright relocation of beer parlours from Police barracks, threatening that whoever flouted the directive thereafter, would be ejected from the barracks.

The POWA President who was on a three-day working visit to familiarise herself with POWA members in the state and also to access the Police children school, with a view to improving the general standards, said such beer parlours should be cited at a given metre from the barracks as stipulated by law.

Addressing POWA members at the POWA hall, Ikeja, she said, “During my inspection yesterday (Wednesday) I saw a lot of beer parlours in barracks. I know it is you people that encouraged such. You should try and speak to your husbands to follow the rules and regulations of the barracks.

“I grew up in the barracks because my father was a Policeman. Then, there was no beer parlour. And with the future of our children in the barracks, we should be careful because these children are more intelligent than us.

“We are going to send signals immediately, for the relocation of the beer parlours . If you don’t keep to it, you will be ejected out of the barracks”.

She also lamented the dirty state of barracks in Lagos and announced the commencement of environmental sanitation, every Saturday. She informed that she would personally take part in tomorrow’s own, after a 30 minutes walk with POWA members, as part of activities to mark her visit.

She said, “What I saw at the barracks was devastating. The barracks was unkempt.

Reports say he will be replaced by the club’s former manager, Massimiliano Allegri.

Confirming Pirlo’s exit, Juventus issued a statement on their official website to bid him farewell.

“Thank you, Andrea. These are the first words that all of us need to say at the end of this special experience together,” the statement read.

“A few months ago, Andrea Pirlo, an icon of world football, began his new adventure, his first as a coach.

“To do this, first of all, it takes courage, as well as awareness of one’s own means, especially in a period marked by thousands of difficulties, with the world forced by the pandemic to reinvent its own rules day after day.

“Pirlo has just begun the first steps of what will no doubt become a brilliant career as a coach. An adventure of transformation, seeking, and often managing, to bring his ideas and his experience as a champion on the pitch from the “other side” of the fence.

“And since in football, what counts are the victories, let’s remember them: in the space of a few short months, Pirlo’s Juve has raised two trophies: The Italian Supercup and the Coppa Italia. And he, as coach, brought home brilliant victories on the most prestigious of fields, from San Siro to Camp Nou.

“For all this, for the courage, the dedication, the passion with which he demonstrated every day, our thanks go to the Maestro, the Coach and to Andrea, that really comes from the heart. As well as our good luck for the future that will surely be a wonderful one.”

It is impossible that all of the reports coming out of Benue and other middle-belt states are false. And it doesn’t matter who the perpetrators are. Whether foreigners, unknown gunmen, or indigenous arm-wielding gangs, this tidal wave of killings must be stopped.

Tired of saying #BenueUnderAttack, it’s exhausting.
Killings been going on for years by one group of people, and nobody has been arrested, nobody has been prosecuted.
The solution right now is State Police and arming the citizens, nothing else.

Disbandment of SARS created a vacuum in policing – IGP

Alkali Baba, acting inspector-general of police, says the disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) created a vacuum in policing the country.

Baba said this at a media briefing on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the morale of police officers in the country has been low since the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.

The acting inspector-general of police said the special weapons and tactics squad (SWAT) established to replace SARS has not yet commenced operations.

He said the vacuum created by SARS has made it difficult to tackle most of the violent crimes in the country.

“The security situation of the country has been significantly stabilise from time to time but we think if it is stabilising then are isolated insurgency coming from these zones in terms of attacks on police facilities and police personnel, even all law enforcement agencies including the military,” he said.

“Therefore, we decided to, one, rejig the morale of our personnel, which has been a little bit dampened since the #EndSARS thing went.

“With the proscription of SARS and establishment of SWAT, which has not been able to take off fully. We had a vacuum in tackling most of the violent crimes from our position of strength.”

On the planned recruitment of 10,000 new police personnel, he said the process has reached 70 percent and that the exercise is in compliance with the federal character principle.

Division Of Nigeria can be Achieved without going to war -Seun Kuti

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has said that division of Nigeria can be achieved without going to war or killing one another.

The activist and leader of Movement of The People (MOP) noted instead of choosing destruction to achieve Yoruba Nation or Biafra, the people should negotiate to achieve a common goal.

He said this during a live video on Instagram while fielding questions on when ESN and Ebubeagu, a security outfit, would start a war among themselves.

Kuti reminded his viewers that England recently left the European Union without fighting.

“England just left the EU recently; did they fight anyone before leaving? The Scottish are agitating to leave England. Why are they not saying they want to fight war before they can leave England? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying these people don’t fight but understand the narrative.

“Must it be a fight if we no wan do again, wey our elites? Why are they not agitating for a referendum?

“Referendums now put the decision in the hands of the people. They want a constitutional conference, they should pick among themselves to help us divide.

“If Nigeria truly wants to divide we must pose it in a referendum program, yes or no vote to all the people in this country so that we can make our argument for and against and the people would be carried along every step of the way because we will need them to make the final decision.

“Even before we do constitutional conferences, democratically in any country, before you do a constitutional review, you must put it to the people, the people will now decide a yes or no vote for the review before you carry your review forward.

“But when only a handful of people want to make decisions for hundreds of millions of people, this is what you now get. Everybody is only discussing one angle, one way of separating Nigeria which will kill millions of us in the name of separating Nigeria.

“If the Yoruba people want to leave Nigeria, it is not overnight. Anybody wey tell you say Yoruba people can leave Nigeria over ten year period, that person is trying to put you in another long jump. Our problem needs like Fifty years of dedication to see front before everything balance,” he said.

Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, has said people of the Yoruba extraction are ready to die in the push to actualise Oduduwa Republic.

Adams said some people of the Southwest are determined to pursue Oduduwa Republic.

Speaking in Lagos yesterday, the former Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, leader said the Southwest reserves the legitimate right to struggle for Oodua Republic.

Adams also lamented that the struggle has been hijacked by top politicians in the region.

He said: “It is unfortunate that some people are determined to weaken the spirit of the agitators. Unfolding events in the last few weeks have shown that some prominent politicians have hijacked the struggle for the actualisation of the O’odua Republic.

“It is an attempt to distract us from the true and original intention of the struggle.

“But I want to say it here that the struggle to seek a new nation is the legitimate rights that we are determined to live and die for and we wouldn’t waiver in our beliefs and determination to liberate our race.”
