Cyber-Fraud: Yahoo Boy to Wash Toilet for Eight Months in Osun

The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, June 20, 2022, secured five convictions before the Federal and State High Courts in Ibadan, Oyo State and Osogbo, Osun State respectively.

 

Among the convicts is Amusa Abdulhakeem Oluwasegunfunmi, a final year student of Transport Planning Management at Tai Solarin University, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State who was sentenced to eight months community service for fraudulent impersonation. The others are Amusa Abdulhakeem Oluwasegunfunmi, Ajisafe Sodiq Olaide, Lawal Samuel Morenikeji, Osuolale Abdullahi Abiodun, and Olamilekan Ridwan Taofeek.

They were convicted on separate one count charges each for offences relating to cyber-fraud.

Upon their arraignments, they pleaded “guilty” to the charges preferred against them by the EFCC.

In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel urged the courts to convict and sentence them accordingly.

Consequently, Justice Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Osogbo, Osun State convicted and sentenced Oluwasegunfunmi, to eight months community service for fraudulent impersonation, contrary to section 22 (2) (b) (1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015.

The sentence requires him to clean the toilets at Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo, Osun State.

Also, the court ordered that the convict’s attendance register be kept by the School Principal and submitted on completion of his term.

Similarly, Justice Iyabo Yerima of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, sentenced Ajisafe Sodiq Olaide to six months community service for obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to Section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

In the same vein, Justice Omolara Adeyemi of the Oyo State High Court convicted and sentenced Lawal Samuel Morenikeji to six months community service; Osuolale Abdullahi Abiodun and Olamilekan Ridwan Taofeek to one week community service as their offences violate Section 484 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The courts ordered that the convicts restitute their victims and forfeit all items recovered from them to the Federal Government.

Unknown Gunmen Attack Kaduna Catholic Church, Kill Three, Abduct Many

 

Unknown gunmen, on Sunday, attacked worshippers at St. Moses Catholic Church in Robuh, Unguwan Aku, Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State while winding down their first mass.

It gathered that the gunmen came to the church in large numbers and started shooting sporadically at the worshippers.

In the course of the attack on the church, three worshippers were killed, some kidnapped while others sustained varying degree of injuries

One of the victims of the attack, according to reports was brought to St. Gerard Catholic Hospital, Kaduna for medical attention.

 

Boko Haram Bomb Manufacturer Nabbed In Taraba

 

Police operatives in Taraba State have apprehended a man said to be manufacturing bombs and ammunition for Boko Haram terrorists.
The suspect who reportedly hails from Zamfara State is said to also belong to a Boko Haram faction responsible for three bomb explosions recorded in the state this year.

Naija News understands that the suspect was arrested in his house which he uses as a factory in Tella town within the Gassol Local Government Area of the state.

Photos that were taken during his apprehension show a series of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and devices for manufacturing bombs.

The Taraba Police Command said it discovered upon further investigation that the suspect is also a member of a kidnapping syndicate terrorizing, Niger, Kogi and Taraba states for more than a year now.

It could be recalled that two separate explosions rocked Tabara this year. One happened on April 19th and the other was recorded on the 22nd of the same month.

No fewer than 10 persons died in the two separate attacks which happened both at drink joints, Naija News recalls.

Not long after, another explosion occurred at the headquarters of six brigade Nigeria army located in the state capital. Acting on credible intelligence, the police swung into action leading to the arrest of the bomb manufacturer.

Parading the 37-year-old native, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Sokoya assured that the force have sprayed their dragnet and soon operatives will capture two other suspects who are currently at large even as investigations continue.

 

Bandits Gun Down Groom, Abduct Pregnant Bride In Kaduna

A newlywed groom has been killed, while the pregnant wife has been abducted by bandits in Jere town, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that four members of the family of a former commissioner of Poverty Alleviation in Kaduna State, Abdulrahman Ibrahim Jere were also abducted.

 

According to Daily Trust, over 50 bandits invaded Jere, a community along the dreaded Abuja-Kaduna highway, on motorcycles.

A further report had it that the terrorists invaded every house in the area, but residents claimed that the house of the former commissioner, Abdulrahman Ibrahim Jere who was out of town at the time was the target.

The terrorists, however, kidnapped his wife, a baby girl, his younger sister and his wife’s sister.

A resident of the affected community, Hassan Adamu Jere, revealed that terrorists attacked the home of a newly wedded couple and attempted to abduct the bride but the groom had resisted.

According to Jere, the groom was killed while trying to drag his wife.

Jere said youths in the community were pissed that despite the combined security presence of soldiers, divisional police office and area command, and security agents they failed to tackle the bandits who operated for over three hours.

He said, “We made several calls to the various security agencies on the ground and they all ignored us. This is the second major attack on our community in the last three months and we feel that the security agents stationed here are of no use to us.”

Ibrahim Salisu, another resident, said the community would lodge a formal protest against security agents in Jere, adding that their action portrays them as people who “are either colluding with the bandits or people who do not care about the security of the people.”

Hours after the bandits had escaped, security agents made efforts to trail them and later informed the community that they had successfully killed two of the bandits.

Gunmen have beheaded a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Okechukwu Okoye.

Until his death, Okoye represented Aguata Constituency II where the Governor of Anambra, Charles Soludo, hails from.

The lawmaker’s severed head was found at Nnobi in the Idemmili South Local Government Area of the state.

According to the state’s police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, the lawmaker’s head was found on Saturday.

“His head was found along Nnobi road today Saturday. There is no suspect in custody yet,” Ikenga was quoted as saying by The Nation.

The Anambra State Government had ordered a manhunt to rescue the lawmaker following his abduction last week.

His suspected killers had left a written note demanding withdrawal of the military from ‘Biafra land’, according to a viral video in circulation on social media.

 

BREAKING: Accountant-General suspended from office over N80 billion Fraud

 

The Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris has been suspended indefinitely from office following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC over N80 billion Fraud.

He was suspended on Wednesday by Zainab Ahmed, the minister of finance, budget and national planning.

POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that Idris was picked up by EFCC operatives in Kano and moved to Abuja on Monday after being found culpable in a multi-billion naira fraud involving the ward of Bogus contracts.

Several companies Idris awarded contracts to and used in laundering over N80 billion in public funds have reportedly been linked to his family members and associates.

A statement from the anti-corruption agency on the matter read in part; “The Commission’s verified intelligence showed that the AGF raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates.”

His arrest became necessary after he was summoned repeatedly for interrogation but failed to honour invitations.

 

EFCC Arrests AGF Ahmed Idris Over Alleged N80bn Fraud

 

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly quizzed the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris.

Naija News learned that the AGF was arrested on Monday over the diversion of funds and money laundering to the tune of N80 billion.

In a statement on Monday signed by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC said Idris was arrested after failing to honour its several invitations.

The anti-graft agency accused the AGF of laundering the funds through real estate investments in Kano and Abuja.

According to the commission, Idris raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates.

“The Commission’s verified intelligence showed that the AGF raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates.

“Mr. Idris was arrested after failing to honour invitations by the EFCC to respond to issues connected to the fraudulent acts,” the statement read in part.

 

Deborah Samuel: Video Of Man Confessing To Her Murder Goes Viral Online

 

A video of a man openly boasting of being responsible for the murder of Deborah Samuel has gone viral online.

Recall that it was earlier reported that the internet went agog yesterday after a disturbing video surfaced showing moments a mob lynched and set ablaze a lady identified as Deborah over alleged blasphemous statement against the Islam Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

The fellows are said to have called out Deborah from her hostel and descended on her with sticks and stones until she could no longer breathe, thereafter set her on fire.

The latest video shows an unidentified man stating that he is part of those who set her ablaze.

He said: “I killed her. I burnt her. You can see the matchbox I used in setting her ablaze.”

Angry Youths Storm Police Station, Blocks Entrance With Dead Bodies

 

Hundreds of angry youths have stormed a police station in the Kajola community of Odigbo council area of Ondo State and blocked the entrance with three dead bodies.

The youths alleged that the officers were in the habit of extorting and harassing residents along the Ijebu Ode/Ore expressway.

They claimed that the three victims died due to their extortion of money from motorcyclists.

The irate youths blocked the police station with the corpses while chanting protest songs and demanded that the security personnel immediately leave the community.

An eyewitness, Funmi Olowogboye told Sunday Vanguard that the policemen stopped the bike conveying the deceased person’s at the checkpoint and while trying to stop, a van, in a bid to avoid the policemen hit the motorcycle and killed the three victims on the spot.

She said: “The van driver crushed the three victims on the motorcycle as they tried to park at the instruction of the police officers who wanted to collect money from them, and they died on the spot.”

The policemen reportedly fled the scene leaving the dead bodies in their wake.

Narrating the incident, the Chairman of Odigbo Council, Mrs Margaret Akinsuroju, said, “Immediately I heard about the incident, I started mobilizing the police so that there would not be a breakdown of peace.

“I heard information that community youths were mobilising and planning to burn the police station.

“They deposited the three corpses at the police station. We pleaded with them that an accident had happened and it had happened.”

However, she explained that there were two sides to the story as the police officers insisted that the victims were murdered by a hit and run driver.

APC Top Leader Allegedly Sends Assassins To Kill Comedian, Mr Macaroni, Pays Them N100 Million

 

An anonymous account on facebook has alleged that a Lagos based politician has contacted assassins to eliminate popular comedian, Mr Macaroni and paid them N100 Million to carry out the act.

The anonymous account mentioned the name of the politician and he happens to be a top contestant for the APC Presidential ticket and a leading contestant for the next president of Nigeria in 2023.

The reason behind the alleged assassination plans is unknown but it may be connected to the role Mr Macaroni played during the END SARS protest and his stand against re-opening of Lekki tollgate.

It would be recalled that he was once arrested during the protest but was later released after so many outcries by social media users.
