Popular Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid lost a Grammy Award to Angelique Kidjo in the Best World Music Album category.
The Beninese singer on Sunday night won the Best World Music Album for ‘Mother Nature’, at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Kidjo while receiving the award on Sunday thanked Nigerian artistes who featured in the album, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade and Mr. Eazi.
Angélique‘s fifth Grammy award album ‘Mother Nature’ was worked on by several Producers such as Kel P of (Burna Boy), James Poyser of The Roots, Vtek, Rexxie, Synematik, Blue Lab Beats, -M-, Brad Thomas Ackley, David Donatien and Dany Synthé.
Femi Kuti and Mide Kuti were also nominated in the category but they lost the opportunity to clinch the award.
The winner of the Best World Music Album has performed with several international orchestras and symphonies, including the Bruckner Orchestra, The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Philharmonie de Paris.
Nigerian singer and actor, Folarin Falana [Falz] has disclosed why he decided to opt-out of Funke Akindele’s soap opera, Jenifa’s Diary.
It will be recalled that Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele started her epic series of Jenifa’s Diary on April 15, 2015.
Akindele had featured both veterans and newbies in the series to create unimaginable scenes that have captured the heart of her lovers and fans.
Falz who took the role of Sege happens to be one of the major characters of the series.
However, as years go by, the singer has acknowledged that he can no longer appear on the movie set for Jenifa’s Diary due to his schedule.
The singer who spoke at an interview with Inkblot’s Meet & Greet said the schedule and timing of shooting are no longer in agreement with his personal schedule.
He said, “If I could be on the show every single episode, I would but it’s just schedule, timing, shooting, ah!
“People genuinely root for them (Jenifa and Sege). And there was a time that she had a bit of confusion in her life as per which guy she should pick and everybody was like Sege!
“Funke can build herself around characters that she’s working with and I have to say she’s one of the most, if not the most hardworking person I have come across in this entertainment industry. This woman, as we’re on set, she’s writing the next episode, she’s directing”, Falz said.
The singer further revealed his love for filmmaking, expressing that he plans to make more films.
“I love filmmaking, that’s what I’ve come to realize. I really love the process of taking an idea and bringing it to life in the form of film. I really love that. So I think I’m definitely going to do a lot more. I don’t know the specifics. I can’t say for sure that I will go into directing.
“I’m already a filmmaker with House 21. We’re creating films, we’re creating different other types of content. Now writing I think I probably would get into it. That’s for sure. Ideas come to me already and with music, I already write music and it’s not the same, but having that kind of background, I think I’ll be able to write. But directing, you never know,” Falz added.
Society gazette reports Nigerian singer, Davido will feature on the 2022 FIFA World Cup soundtrack ‘Better Together’.
The ‘OBO’ crooner made this known on Twitter on Friday.
The 29-year-old singer will perform alongside Trinidad Cardona and Aisha.

A Popular Nollywood comic actor, Dejo Tunfulu is Dead. His demise was announced by his friend and fellow actor, Kunle Afod.
The cause of his death is yet to be ascertained.
Popular radio presenter, Adeyemi Olabode, also posted on his known Facebook page: “I saw the post about your demise and hurriedly called your line so you can debunk the ‘April fool’ news, but alas! It was picked by your son. You were so kind and down to earth.”

During his secondary school days, he joined the entertainment society and that became the beginning of his career in acting.
The late actor was known through the television programme he featured in called “Theatre Omode.” The name of the first movie he acted in was Aje ni Iya mi, which is a home video.
Fast rising Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable has lost the chance to perform at a forthcoming show organized by a comedian, MC Morris, in Canada.
MC Morris disclosed this in a statement on his Instagram account shortly after Portable sacked his manager, Deejay and his promoter.
The comedian wrote, “For those that are asking why I removed idamu adugboyin from my May 22 show. Talent is not enough, a beautiful song without a beautiful attitude is a beautiful nonsense.
“Two managers in less than a year, even sack innocent DJ that his job na to play song and scratch shaka shaka. I cannot koshi mero am sorry. All transactions canceled and ijoba danku am sorry.”
The Zahzoo crooner on his Instagram account had accused his manager and promoter of being dependent on him.
He said, “Am I your father or brother? Manager, DJ, promoter, I will feed una, buy cloth for una, put money into your accounts, I go con do like say I broke, ask the manager for money but he will tell me he has no money as if he is building a house.
“Deejay will also say he has no money, promoter will also say he has no money. They think the grace will finish but it won’t. If you are not gaining from me, maybe you should clear from me.”
Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola also known as Portable has announced to the general public that he has relieved his manager, DJ and promoter of their duties.
The zazoo crooner insisted via a video posted on his Instagram handle that his manager, show promoter and DJ does not do anything in building his career and he feels cheated because he pays them.
He maintained that he also wanted other people to have a taste of his money therefore the need for new set of people.
Portable who is known to be erratic and quite controversial recently bagged a whopping N50m endorsement deal.
The singer took to his Instagram account to announce that he had signed an endorsement deal of N50m as the brand ambassador of a bitters drink.
He thanked Obi Cubana for giving him the opportunity to market the product.

Nigerian billionaire businessman, Obi Cubana, has signed a deal with musician, Habeeb Okikiola also called Portable, as the brand ambassador of his new herbal drink “Odogwu bitters”.
The deal which was signed on Monday was revealed by Portable.
Based on the disclosure made known in a video, the deal which endorses Portable as a brand ambassador is valued N50m.
But both parties did not disclose the tenure of the deal.
THE WHISTLER could not independently verify the terms of the deal as of the time of filing the report.
The deal has however generated reactions on micro-blogging site, Twitter.
A Twitter user with the handle @Tee_Classiquem1 said, “Portable just signed a deal worth N50m with Obi Cubana as an Ambassador for his new herbal drink Odogwu bitters. It’s safe to say being an idamu adugbo is really paying off for his brand.”
For @Nycewizy, he said, “Obi Cubana is smart. Man wants to break the context that Odogwu Bitters is an Eastern Drink for just the Igbos. Signed the rave of the moment Portable as a Brand Ambassador for a whooping N50m? Smart move.”

Award-winning singer, David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, on Friday took to his Twitter account to express excitement after Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund used his slang, ‘E Choke on its official Twitter account.
The Bundesliga club had posted pictures of their players on their Twitter account with the caption, ‘E Choke’, popularly used by Davido.
Borussia Dortmund shared picture of Erling Haaland, Marco Reus and Axel Witsel celebrating and wrote, “E choke @davido 🇳🇬😂”

The gospel music band called Gigo Global Dynamite presents a three-in-one event, marking the release of their second musical album; titled Ade-Ogo (crown of glory); alongside the unveiling of an all-new reinvigorated Gigo Band; and Praise His Majesty Concert as the highlight.

Fast rising musician, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has put a smile on the faces of motherless babies as he celebrated his 28th birthday.
Naija News understands that the controversial music star added a new age on Friday, March 11, and to celebrate his big day, the singer took to a motherless babies home to shower the kids with some love and gifts.
The singer, alongside his friends and family, paid a visit to Little Saints Orphanage Home at Abule Egba part of Lagos.
Before his visit, Portable had wished himself happy Birthday on his Instagram page.
He wrote, “Dr Zeh Nation ZAzuu If I could make a wish right now, it would be to be heard screaming across the universe just to show how happy I am. Happy birthday to me Portable omolalomi.”
