Helen Paul Inducted As Public Administration Fellow, Ambassador

One of Nigeria’s most resourceful entertainers, Dr Helen Paul has been inducted as a Fellow of the prestigious Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria.

The special investiture of Dr Helen Paul took place on Wednesday, 26 January, 2022 at the the serene Banquet Hall of Mayors and Diplomats Hotel and Suites, Oduduwa Way, G.R.A Ikeja, Lagos.

The induction ceremony was conducted by Dr Uche Okereke, Registrar of the institute on the mandate of the body’s head honcho, Professor A.M Awotoku.

Other representatives of the institute included Alhaja Yeye Mosunmola Johnson, Madam Kemi, Mrs Tinuola Mabuso —Secretary General, and Professor Segun Olabintan who read Dr Helen Paul’s citation.

It was an epoch-making event attended by captains of industry and eminent personalities from all walks of life. There were representatives from the Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigerian Customs Service and other government parastatals.

Celebrities like Binta Ayo Mogaji, Ngozi Nwosu, Uti Nwachukwu, Yomi Fabiyi, Bunmi Davies, Rose Odika, Dupe Jaiyesimi, Ada Ameh, Comedian Ashiri and a host of other entertainers were not left out.

According to Dr Okereke, Dr Helen Paul, FCPA, will also double as an ambassador of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria, a body founded in 1996 and chartered by Act of Parliament No. 1 of 2017.

“This institute passed through the National Assembly, both the Senate and House of Representatives, and the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Today, it is the only recognized professional body that practice Local Government and Public Administration in Nigeria,” Dr Okereke said.

He added that the induction of Dr Helen Paul as a Fellow and Ambassador of the institute was decided by the Council of the institute after a meticulous monitoring of her academic strides and service to humanity.

Dr Okereke explained that “the choice of Helen Paul was made by our Council after due consideration of her academic excellence. She has a Masters Degree in Public Administration, not only in Theatre Arts, which is her primary constituency. She sneaked in to Public Administration, and this is the first time we are combining Public Administration with Theatre Arts. We really want to experiment how Public Administration and Theatre Arts can work together… that is why we are also making her our Ambassador.”

With her induction, Dr Helen Paul has joined other eminent Nigerians as Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria.

The institute has about four serving governors, two Justices of Supreme Court, former governor of Lagos State and NDLEA Chairman among others as Fellows.

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has taken to social media to share more loved-up photos with her new lover and movie marketer, Kazim Adeoti.
Naija News reports the 43-year-old actress, unveiled her new love on Sunday, a few hours ahead of his birthday.

The photos have since stirred several backslashes from some fans of hers who accused her of snatching another man’s wife.

Mercy Aigbe, despite the numerous criticisms, took to her Instagram page to share photos with her new love, saying she can’t wait to celebrate his birthday.

She captioned the photos; “Couldn’t pick which slide is my fav, so I decided to post all. I think first slide is my fav tho I can’t wait to wish my best friend a happy birthday…. I celebrate God’s goodness in your life Alhaji Kazim Adeoti @kazimadeoti Alhamdulillah”

Kazim Adeoti is understood to have been previously married with four children, but reportedly left them in Minnesota, Canada after he began dating Mercy Aigbe.

Mercy Aigbe who now calls herself Hajia Minnah also shared a photo on Instagram with the caption “It’s my Boo’s birthday in a bit Cc @kazimadeoti thank you for being amazing.“

A photo making the rounds online captured some notable Nigerian actors presenting an award to Femi Adeshina at the Aso Rock.

This did not sit well with many Nigerians as they questioned the award’s purpose and blasted the Nollywood stars for being concerned about their pockets instead of the masses.

It’s the build-up to the 2023 elections, and many Nigerians who seem tired of the current challenging situation in the country are not smiling with anyone supporting old politicians.

News recalls Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has tackled his senior colleague in the industry, Mr Ibu, over his show of support for the former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the presidential election.

This comes after Mr Ibu and many other actors came under heavy criticism after a video of them drumming support for the 2023 presidential ambition of National Leader of APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu surfaced online.

This angered Nigerians as they dragged the Nollywood stars for betraying the masses with such an act stating they are all after their pocket to the detriment of what happens to others.

However, in a video, Mr Ibu made a Uturn after disclosing that Atiku Abubakar is his presidential candidate since he has done so much for him and given him a house to stay.

In reaction to the statement, Uche rained insults at Mr Ibu for proclaiming his support for a northern candidate as an Igbo man. He added that the 2023 presidency belongs to the south.

Award-winning Nigerian artist, Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2Baba, has announced that he has resigned from impregnating women.

Tuface said this while performing one of his hit songs, True Love, during the Idoma carnival in Benue state, asking his audience repeatedly “where is my true love?”

Low response from them, prompted him to make the statement.

He said in pidgin, “I see say some babe dey fear to shout for that side. Abeg, make una no fear to shout, I no dey give belle like that again, I don stop. Ask anybody, they will tell you I am Innocent Idibia. I no dey do that kind thing again. No be small thing, I don resign for that kind matter.”(sic)

Currently, Tuface has seven children, his previous relationship with his baby mama Pero had produced three kids, with Sumbo Adeoye the singer has two kids.

He is married to a Nigerian Actress, Annie and their union have been blessed with two kids.

 

Portable, promoter in war of words

 

Rave singer, Portable and his former promoter, Kogbagidi, have taken to social media to throw subtle shade at each other after a public fallout.

Kogbagidi took to his Instagram page to share a post that most followers believed was directed at Portable.

He wrote: “ Don’t wrestle with a pig in the mud, you will both get dirty but the pig likes it. If you are born in the mud you are gonna be dirty and people don’t understand that. Not only do we live among stars, not only do we make stars, stars live within us.”

Two hours after Kogbagidi’s post, Portable shared a subtle response: “Thank God say man no be God. Level don change, portable Omolalomi I’m a big man.”

The Zazu singer was seen at rapper Phyno’s house recently with other stars including Timaya, Peruzzi, Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye, Danku and a host of others.

Last week, a viral video hit the internet with Portable seen in a heated argument with his former boss.

In the video, Portable was seen verbally attacking Kogbagidi as he accused him of ripping him off.

He also alleged that Kogbagidi made a lot of money off him but never gave him his deserved share.

The two have since reportedly parted ways and unfollowed each other on social media.

 

2022 Grammy Awards Postponed Over COVID-19

 

The much anticipated 2022 Grammy Awards has been postponed due to the recent surge in the spread of the new variant of COVID-19 disease across the cities.
The music awards gala night had been scheduled for January 31, however, the recent widespread of the Omicron variant across United States cities have called for a reschedule.

The current overall cases of Coronavirus in the United States is about sixty million while deaths recorded so far is over eight hundred and thirty thousand.

A statement released on Wednesday evening by the organizers of the Grammy Awards said: “Holding the show on January 31 simply contains too many risks.”

The Recording Academy, however, said it would announce a rescheduled date as soon as possible.

“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remain our top priority,” the statement added.

Record Academy had in November 2021 confirmed the names of nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards which was earlier scheduled to hold in Los Angeles on Monday, January 31, Naija News recalls.

Nigerian superstars, Wizkid and Burna Boy got nominated in different categories for the 2022 Grammys.

Nigerian singer, Ayo Balogun, better known as Wizkid got nominated in two categories for the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Wizkid’s fourth album, ‘Made in Lagos’ which was released in 2020 has continued to dominate music charts in the country and abroad. Also, his hit song, Essence has been on the lips of music lovers as it also made its way to the playlist of former US President Barack Obama.

In the list of nominees released by the organizers, Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album was nominated in the Best Global Music Award category, while Essence featuring Tems makes the list of nominees for the Best Global Music Performance category.

Wizkid would be hoping to clinch the award and follow the footstep of popular Nigerian singer, Burna Boy who won the award for Best Global Music Album Award this year, Naija News reports.

Recall that Wizkid had won an award for his part in the video for Beyonce’s Brown-Skinned girl at the 2021 ceremony.

Another proud Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy got a nomination for the 2022 Grammys.

Burna Boy, a two-time nominee and winner was nominated alongside, Wizkid, Femi Kuti, and, Made Kuti.

 

VIDEO: How Singer, Teni Escapes Alleged Kidnap Attempt During Her Performance In Rivers

 

Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata better known as Teni narrowly escaped an alleged attempted abduction in Rivers state.

The artiste was performing at a New Yea show in the state when chaos and pandemonium broke out and everyone scampered to safety.

Eyewitnesses say that some unknown persons tried to kidnap Teni while she was on stage performing, but her bouncers, who were armed fired some gunshots into the air.

A video from the incident showed the moment the said abduction was about to occur and the crowd went into disarray, leading to a stampede. Gunshots could also be heard in the clip.

An attendee took to Twitter to narrate what allegedly happened at the concert.

Grammy award winner Burna Boy electrified fans at the FirstBank Decemberissavybe campaign with a sterling performance at the ‘Burna Boy The Live Experience’. The 30-year-old singer expressed how delighted he was to have relocated back to Nigeria at the concert.

The self-claimed ‘African Giant‘ performed a catalog of his songs from 2012 to 2021 at the Eko Convention Center Lagos which was filled to the brim with fans.

FirstBank – through its yearly DecemberIssaVybe campaign – unveiled the 2021 calendar of events earlier in December as it reiterates its impact on the arts and entertainment industry. The campaign which started in 2018 has been making waves across the cities in the country and Nigerians.

Amid his performance, the Burna Boy proudly told fans that the best decision he has ever made was returning to Nigeria. “Coming back home is the best decision I’ve made.” He took the opportunity to thank his fans for the love shown towards him since his career berthed.

The African Giant was reborn when Burna Boy decided to practise what he preaches. For his first outfit of the night, Burna was dressed like a full African royalty. He was decked in a tuxedo adorned with a Gorilla fur design on both arms. And he swayed from left to right as he elegantly showed off the richness of African tradition.

The Nation observed the high point of Burna Boy’s 3-hour long concert was when he showed that truly his aim is to unite Africans in Africa through entertainment. During the show, Burna Boy invited his African collaborators ‘Black Sherif’ and the ‘Yaba Buluku’ singers on stage to perform alongside him. The moment was one of the memorable moments of the night.

Burna Boy performed so many songs from his classics which saw the fans singing along. After the show, he appreciated his fans for coming through and the love they’ve shown him thus far. Burna Boy returned to Nigeria after leaving the United Kingdom to continue his quest for fame and stardom. His decision paid off after the hit single, ‘Like to party’ kicked off his career in full swing in 2012.

Popular Celebrity designer and stylist, Toyin Lawani, has revealed that actress Toyin Abraham paid for the wedding dress of her colleague, Adebimpe Oyebade.

Lawani took to her Instagram page on Friday where she shared beautiful photos of the dress while appreciating Toyin Abraham.

Adebimpe got married to Nollywood actor, Adedimeji Lateef last Wednesday in a star-studded event in Lagos.

Talking about the dress, Lawani said, “@mo_bimpe Nikai wedding dress, designed by the fashion goddess via @elegantebytiannah styling courtesy of @toyin_abraham.

“I was just randomly discussing with her that I was making three dresses for Bimpe and I was so busy this time.”

“Next thing she said, ‘she’s my God Daughter o, let me pay for her wedding dress,’ and you know I charge millions.

“So, she did the transfer boom! and I made this masterpiece happen. Thanks, Toyin, you are a wonderful friend. Well, everyone say thank you to @toyin_abraham. God bless you.”
