How Netflix, others’ operations affect ours – Cinema operators
The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) have expressed worry over some movies going directly into movie streaming platforms, instead of cinemas where movies could be watched by a wider public.
This was disclosed by CEAN’s Chairman, Mr Patrick Lee, in Lagos on Wednesday.
According to him, the cinema experience is different from watching a movie on one’s mobile phone or computer, adding that the association was already discussing with the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) and Netflix, a movie streaming platform, to come to some sort of agreement with such investment.
“We are speaking with the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) and Netflix to see that those movies be allowed to have some streaming time at the cinema.
“We welcome such kind of investments because they will help the industry grow,” he told NAN.
He also assured film enthusiasts across the country of their safety against COVID-19 in all cinemas.
Lee said that considering the upsurge in the new variant of the pandemic, cinemas across the federation were also on alert to ensure that visitors strictly comply with COVID-19 safety protocols.
“We are taking the new variant of COVID-19 pandemic seriously, we are aware of the upsurge and we keep reminding our members daily on the need to adhere to the safety protocols.
“We are still keeping to the safety protocols of handwashing, social distancing, hand sanitising, temperature checks and the hall capacity agreed for each state.
“For Lagos State, we agreed 50 per cent hall capacity and we are keeping to the rule. We are also sending reminders to the 54 cinemas in the country, who are also sending to their staff to ensure the COVID-19 safety protocols are kept.
“We are taking it seriously and happy that no case of COVID-19 pandemic had been linked to any cinema yet and we pray and hope that will continue.”
#BBNaija: Tega’s Husband Blows Hot, Gives Her New Conditions To Sustain Marriage
The husband of embattled evicted Big Brother Naija (#BBNaija) season six housemate Tega, Ajeboh Krislawrence, has stated that his wife must apologize before he accepts her back.
Recall that Tega, before her eviction, has been in the news for the wrongs reasons over her unholy relationship with another evicted housemate, Boma.
Tega who had stated she is married when entering the reality show engaged in romantic activities with Boma which led to a lot of backlash from viewers of #BBNaija.
Tega alongside Peace, Michael and Boma were however evicted during the ‘Kingsize’ eviction show held on Sunday.
Speaking after her eviction Tega told the show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, that all her acts with Boma was scripted, claiming her husband would understand while describing him as ‘a hard guy.’
But in an Instagram live interview session with Tunde Ednut, Tega’s husband threatened to end the relationship.
He stated that he would only stick with his wife if she takes responsibility for her action in the house as this will be the first time she will be involved in such an act.
“I know Tega knows what she did was very bad but she needs us more than ever. I don’t think I should abandon her because she needs me.
“We are all humans and we all sin and God forgives us. I wouldn’t throw her away. She’s my wife and such things come with marriage,” he said.
when fame got into my head and i started misbehaving, Annie Stood By Me – 2Face Defends Wife
Innocent Idibia, music star better known as Tuface, has said he married Annie, his wife, because she stood by him in trying times.
In a recent interview he had with DJ Anyaloko, Tuface recalled how Annie stood by him when he was hopping on bikes and trekking on the streets.
The father of 7 said when fame got into his head and he started misbehaving, Annie did not abandon him.
“You see Annie is from an average background like myself. We both started from nothing. She stood by me through it all. When there was no car, she hopped on bikes, took the bus, and trekked with me. When there was no money or house or hit songs or millions of albums sold or big awards and accolades, she was there.”
“When I used to repeat just 3 sets of clothes, she would always hold my head, look me in the eyes and tell me, ‘things will be fine one day’. When I wasn’t handsome, she called me her prince charming. When I wasn’t celebrated, she called me her king. She is my number one fan.
“Even when I made it big as a musician and started misbehaving and controversies almost destroyed my career, she would go down on her knees and pray to God to show me the way and give me victory over my enemies.
“Now if I am still that small boy struggling to make it like every other young chap on the streets of Lagos, do you think a doctor, a lawyer, and a multi-millionaire businesswoman would want to look at me or even have my kids? No. So to answer your question, I did not choose who had more to offer me, I chose Annie because she offered me her all when we had very little.”
