“It is a very tough time for us; its been very trying, especially for myself.

“Having a brother like him; once you lose him it is really very painful. He died in front of myself, our mother and all his children.

“And you stand by watching as the machine is going down until it stopped working.

“It was very tormenting,” Dangote stated.

He said these when the leader of All Progress Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, paid him a condolence visit on Friday.

Tinubu was in Kano to condole with him on the death of his brother, the Vice Chairman of the Dangote Group of Company, Alhaji Sani Dangote.

“We have always known that when there is life there is death. We, as Muslims, don’t know who is next and it can be today, tomorrow or even now.

“That is why it is good to be good, so that when you get there you can bid for whatever you were asked to do on earth.

“Your excellency, you are our host because you are the governor of all of us and we really thank you for taking almost the whole week struggling with the crowds, its not easy.

“I thank you all for all your prayers and your support.

“This will actually help us to reduce the pain that we are going through,” Dangote added.

In his condolence message the APC leader, Tinubu stated that money cannot buy life and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

He called on the family to take heart and continue to pray for the repose of late Sani’s soul.

“Sani is not yours alone. He was a Lagosian and a great Nigerian and a friend and a brother to all of us here.

“I am not a preacher, but I know what it means to suddenly lose a close relation, especially a brother.

“What we have come to do is to join in prayers for you and the people of Kano state, for Nigeria and the entire family as a whole.

“May God give you the strength to bear the loss. It is a loss to all of us.

“May God grant you longer life, keep you in good health, keep the family in good health, give you peace of mind and the ability to accept the decree of God Almighty.

“He is the giver and the taker and He can do anything at any given time he chooses.

Ogun State House of Assembly has ordered security agencies to arrest a Nollywood star, Goriola Hassan, for allegedly parading himself as the Oba-elect of Imobi in the Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the state.

The Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, during plenary on Thursday ordered that Hassan should be arrested and presented to the Assembly within 14 days.

The Assembly had in August threatened to issue a warrant of arrest on Goriola after he snubbed two previous invitations of the lawmakers over the allegations against him.

Oluomo ordered his arrest following the presentation and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The committee Chairman, Bolanle Ajayi, while reading the committee’s report, accused Goriola of converting a government building to private use.

Ajayi also accused the Nollywood actor of disobeying the orders of constituted authority that asked him to stop parading himself as the Olu of Imobi.

Tordue Salem: Police Deny Wuse General Hospital’s Claim On Late Journalist’s Corpse

The Nigerian Police Force has denied claim by the Wuse General Hospital that it was contacted after an identity card was found on the corpse of Tordue Salem, the late Vanguard reporter who was declared missing on October 13.

Vanguard had published an interview with the Secretary of Wuse General Hospital, Mrs Hanatu Sani, on why the hospital did not notify the police after it found a Vanguard identity card on the corpse of the late journalist.

Mrs Sani had claimed in the report published on Wednesday that the job of the hospital was to notify the police, whose job it is to inform families of dead bodies brought into the hospital.

The secretary said the hospital’s mortician who received the corpse promptly called the police officer who deposited the body the previous night, to inform him about the identity of the corpse, adding that the said officer– Isaiah Olumu from Utako Division– failed to keep his promise to come back.

But a senior police officer at the FCT Command who spoke to THE WHISTLER on condition of anonymity, faulted the hospital’s claim, saying the said police officer was not contacted.

He also claimed that the hospital was supposed to write to the police when it discovered the identity of the corpse.

The officer said, “I don’t think the mortician is saying the truth because immediately the incident occurred, a signal was sent to the command stating that an unknown person was hit by an unknown driver.

“If the mortician had contacted the said officer, the officer would have informed the DPO.

“Also, if it is true, the hospital should have written to the police immediately, indicating that the corpse has an ID card. So, I do not think that report is true.”

Effort by THE WHISTLER to meet the police officer who deposited the corpse was unsuccessful, as his colleagues at the Utako police division appeared to shield him.

Josephine Adeh, the FCT police command spokesperson, did not respond to our correspondent’s request for comment on the procedure for reporting such cases to the police.

But a senior officer at the force headquarters told this website that, “Sudden and Unnatural Death (SUD) cases do not necessarily require special procedures for reporting.”

The officer, who didn’t want his named mentioned said, “If and when a corpse is discovered, reports should be made promptly to the nearest police station in whose jurisdiction the body is found, they will know what actions to take, or you can put a call across to the command control room to report the discovery.”
