School Teacher Declared Peru’s New President

School teacher, Pedro Castillo has been declared Peru’s president-elect, six weeks after elections during which the results were delayed by claims of electoral fraud from his right-wing rival, Keiko Fujimori.

Jorge Luis Salas, head of the JNE elections jury, announced his victory in a brief virtual ceremony on Monday night, July 19.

Castillo, 51 is the head of the Teacher’s trade unionist. He becomes the first non-rich president of Peru.

His victory leaves rival Fujimori facing an imminent corruption trial.

“On behalf of my family I would like to salute the electoral authorities… and also to salute the political parties that have taken part in this democratic celebration,” Castillo told supporters gathered at the headquarters of his Peru Libre (Free Peru) party in Lima.

“Dear compatriots, I bring here an open heart for each and every one of you,” he declared from the balcony after
In a gesture to Fujimori, 46, the president-elect urged her to help “take the country forward” and said he held “no resentment” despite the many attacks he had fielded in recent weeks.

The JNE validated the vote count by the ONPE elections body, which had given Castillo 50.12 percent of the ballots cast, some 44,000 more than Fujimori — most of whose objections the jury dismissed.

Fujimori had earlier claimed fraud despite observers from the Organization of American States, the United States and European Union declaring the vote free and fair, and her backers had called for fresh elections.

The US embassy in Lima congratulated Peruvians on successful elections.

“We value our deep ties and hope to strengthen them with the president-elect Pedro Castillo after his inauguration,” it said on Twitter.

Castillo has targeted creating a million jobs in a year, and said Peru’s mining and hydrocarbon riches “must be nationalized.”

Among his more controversial campaign promises, Castillo has vowed to expel illegal foreigners who commit crimes in Peru, giving them “72 hours… to leave the country.” – a warning to undocumented Venezuelan migrants who have arrived in the hundreds of thousands since 2017.

‘Jobless Buhari’s Regime Arrests Igboho but failing to nab terrorists Killing Nigerians Daily’- Deji Adeyanju Blows Hot

Abuja-based activist, Deji Adeyanju has berated President Muhammadu Buhari over the arrest of Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemi, also known as Igboho.

Adeyanju rebuked Buhari for apprehending Igboho but failed to nab terrorists killing Nigerians in the North.

Igboho was reportedly apprehended at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night while attempting to fly to Germany.

Condemning the incident, Adeyanju, who is the convener of Concerned Nigerian tweeted: “BREAKING: Jobless Buhari regime arrest Sunday Igboho in Cotonou.

“But they can’t arrest terrorists who kill people weekly and even shoot down our fighter jets.

“I urge you to stand with your own who has not committed any crime. Self determination is not a crime. They are still standing with killer herdsmen who have killed over 20,000 Nigerians under Buhari & even asking that everyone should give them land and we budget billions for them.”

‘I Stand with Sunday Igboho For Defending His People’ – Reno Omokri Reacts

Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has condemned the arrest of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.
Society gazette reports that Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic on Monday night.

Reacting to the news, Omokri eulogized Sunday Igboho stating that he was a freedom fighter who was rather unfortunate. According to him, Igboho deserves the same commitment from Nigerians that Buhari has continues to show to killer herdsmen.

He also urged that Nigerians to repay Sunday Igboho for his selflessness by gathering resources for his legal defense.

”The reported arrest of Sunday Igboho in Cotonou is unfortunate. He is a hero freedom fighter who defended us. We must now repay his good turn and also defend him and gather resources for his legal defence. Igboho deserves the same commitment from us, that Buhari has shown and continues to show to killer herdsmen and bandits. Buhari has refused to categorise his kinsmen, who shot down a multimillion dollar Nigerian Airforce jet yesterday, as terrorists (they lied that they jet crashed, but the pilot survived and blew open their lies). Yet, he has criminalised one of the few Nigerians brave enough to stand up to killer herdsmen. And that is why I stand with Igboho. Not for secession. But for defending his people.’‘He wrote

Yoruba Nation: At Last, Autopsy Report Reveals What Killed 25-year-old Drink Seller

The cause of death for 25-year-old Jumoke Oyeleke, who was hit by a stray bullet during the Yoruba Nation rally in Lagos, has been revealed.
The young girl’s cause of death was revealed in an autopsy report obtained by SaharaReporters.

According to the autopsy signed by Dr SS Soyemi of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Jumoke’s death was caused by “Haemopericardium, disruption of the heart and lungs and missile injury to the chest.”

Hemopericardium refers to blood in the pericardial sac of the heart. It is clinically similar to a pericardial effusion, and, depending on the volume and rapidity with which it develops, may cause cardiac tamponade.

Society gazette recalls that security operatives while dispersing Yoruba Nation agitators at Ojota reportedly killed the yoghurt seller.

She was reportedly displaying drinks at a shop when a stray bullet hit her and severed her stomach. Her body was covered with a piece of cloth as a crowd gathered at the spot.

In a swift response, the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force denied responsibility for the death of the 25-year-old female hawker.

The Police in a reaction after the news of the girl’s death went viral said its operatives present at the scene of the planned rally didn’t fire any live bullet.

According to the police, the corpse has been discovered not to be fresh after investigations.

The police added that the girl might have died from wounds sustained from a sharp object injury.

But the Lagos state government, not satisfied with the police statement, ordered an investigation into the death of the young girl.

Olympics: Officials Install Cardboard Beds To Discourage Athletes From Having Sex

Officials are looking to discourage Athletes from engaging in sexual activity at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as they installed cardboard beds in the Olympic village.

According to Dezeen magazine, Olympic officials who already warned 2021 Games participants to avoid two-person push-ups because of the coronavirus, set up 18,000 of the cardboard beds in the notoriously sex-crazed athletes’ village.

“Those beds can stand up to 200 kilograms,” Takashi Kitajima, the general manager of the Athletes Village, was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Kitajima further added that a “wild celebration” such as an athlete bagging a gold could perhaps be bad news for the bed. “Of course, wood and cardboard would each break if you jumped on them,” he said.

“Beds to be installed in Tokyo Olympic Village will be made of cardboard, this is aimed at avoiding intimacy among athletes,” American distance runner Paul Chelimo tweeted.

Pastor’s Sack: Winners’ Chapel Is Right – Reno Omokri

Winners’ Chapel is currently receiving backlash and condemnation amid the trending video released by a man that identify himself as a pastor in the ranks of the Living Faith Church popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, who claimed he was sacked because he’s not generating money for the church and this has led to the usual antagonists of Bishop Oyedepo like self acclaimed online preacher Daddy Freeze to weigh in his strong criticism.

While all these are going on popular author and opinion leader has lend his voice to the issue through a post on his Instagram handle @renoomokri where he defended the position of the leader of Winners’ Chapel on the sack.

The statement according to Omokri reads; “I read the letter from Winners’ Chapel and it did not mention anything about money. Rather, it used the word “church growth”. Christ called us to engage in evangelism-Matthew 28:18-20. Any pastor that fails at that core duty should be sacked. This is what Christ told us in Matthew 25:14-29.

Bishop Oyedepo of Winner’s Chapel

“The sacked pastor who went to the press after releasing a live video is playing on your emotions. He is not considering that he is undermining the faith of believers.

“In John 15:16, Christ said “I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit.” Now, ask yourself what the consequence of not bearing fruit is. Christ answered that question in John 15:2 “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away”.

“This is why the only thing Christ ever cursed in His lifetime on Earth is the fig tree that bore no fruit-Mark 11:14.

“Winners Chapel is in order.” The bestselling author concluded.

Eid-el-Kabir: Speaker Obasa pleads with Nigerians to let peace reign

Eid-el-Kabir: Speaker Obasa pleads with Nigerians to let peace reign

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has urged Nigerians to see peace as one of the major ingredients for democracy to thrive.

Obasa made this known in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Nigerians including residents of Lagos and politicians in the state, which is preparing for local government elections.

Obasa, who noted that the yearnings of many well-meaning Nigerians were justified, however, added that going about such demands and requests through violent means would not help the citizens and the country.

“We complain about a dwindling economy today, but the truth is that restiveness, banditry, terrorism, kidnappings and general insecurity are some of the major causes.

“It is not difficult to know that no nation can thrive or succeed when it is violence-ridden.

“Just as citizens must begin to live in peace and neighbourliness, we, as leaders, must also not nap, we must not sleep on ideas to make the country great.

“We must show perfect examples of love for country and sacrifice to humanity as Islam teaches.

“In Lagos, we have remained a good example of a working democracy thanks to our hardworking leaders and faithful residents.

“Like I said earlier ahead of the local government council elections, it is very important that all parties shun violence. We must eschew violence; it is not going to do any of us any good and it is not going to do any party any good also.

“We must allow people of the state to decide and choose leaders that will serve their interests for the next four years. So, we must all come together to condemn anything that has to do with violence.

“We must do that, it is important because anything can become the outcome of violent actions. We don’t want that to happen,” the speaker said as he congratulated Muslims in the country for witnessing another holy celebration.

Clean Smelly Lagos Gutters, Stop Making Noise – Deji Adeyanju Attacks Joe Igbokwe

The convener of the Concerned Nigerians movement, Deji Adeyanju, has condemned the Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Joe Igbokwe.
The activist charged the APC chieftain to clean smelly gutters in Lagos State rather than make noise on social media.

Recall that Igbokwe recently celebrated the rearrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

According to Igbokwe, the IPOB leader once asked IPOB members to kill him and his family members.

The governor’s aide also condemned Kanu’s style of agitation, stressing that the IPOB leader never witnessed the Biafra civil.

He added that President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has enough evidence to convict the embattled IPOB leader.

Adeyanju in a tweet wrote: “Joe Igbokwe who should be busy cleaning smelly gutters in Lagos is still on Facebook making noise.”
