A former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, has claimed that the beauty of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan poses a problem for her in politics, stating that men find it difficult to ignore her presence.

Speaking on Arise News on Monday, Ogunlewe remarked that female senators do not consider themselves inferior to men and often assert themselves in political discussions.

However, he suggested that Senator Natasha’s physical appearance sets her apart in a way that affects how men react to her.

“The female senators did not look at themselves as if they were inferior to men. They were even up to the task. If you even mention that Itadewa is a woman, the response you are going to get will make you ashamed of yourself because they will stand up to you,” he said.

Referring specifically to Akpoti-Uduaghan, he added, “But the beauty of Distinguished Senator Natasha is a problem to her.

When asked, “How can beauty be a problem?”

He said, “You know, men—when somebody who is pretty passes by you, your attitude will change. You can smile, you can wink, but you may not talk to her. But her beauty is a problem, there’s no doubt about that.”

When pressed further on how beauty could be an issue, Ogunlewe responded, “To men, when she’s passing, there’s no way a man will not look at that woman.”

He defended his stance by stating that it is natural for men to notice attractive women, adding, “It is a natural thing for a man to look at beautiful women. How can you be a man, and a beautiful woman is passing, and you close your eyes?”

Despite being questioned on whether his views were misogynistic, Ogunlewe insisted that his observations were based on natural human tendencies.

“It may be, you might term it that way, but it is inbuilt,” he said.

– as Methodist Archbishop advocates for Muslim governor in 2027

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has urged Nigerians not to despair as the administration of President Bola Tinubu is working to resolve the country’s challenges.

“The outgoing year is indeed a challenging one, especially considering the economic situation of the country. Nevertheless, we have solace in the fact that the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is not leaving any stone unturned to bring us to our promised land.

“Mr. President is busy doing everything possible to put smiles on our faces. Trust me, succour is coming. I urge us to keep the hope alive,” Dr. Obasa said during the Assembly’s 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Service with the theme: ‘The Voice Of Mercy’.

At the event which had officials from the various arms of the state government, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), traditional rulers and guest preachers, the Speaker urged Nigerians to enter 2025 with renewed passion and vigour.

Quoting from various portions of the Bible, Dr. Obasa said the country had reasons to thank God for His mercies, love and faithfulness.

“In times like these, when the world can seem overwhelming and uncertain, it is crucial to remember the enduring message of mercy and grace that is ever-present in our lives. Indeed, it is through God’s mercy that we find strength, solace, and renewal.

“May we acknowledge God’s sovereignty and mercy in our lives, recognising that our blessings and successes are not solely the result of our efforts, but rather a manifestation of God’s mercy and compassion,” he said while urging citizens to also learn to show mercy to one another.

In his sermon, Most Rev. Isaac Ayo Olawuyi, Archbishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria (Lagos), urged Nigerians to be merciful to one another in line with God’s instruction.

“When the mercy of God is upon you, all protocols are be broken. All things are possible by the mercies of God. We receive forgiveness of our sins from Him by His mercies. The nation needs God’s mercy and it is by His mercy that we can overcome our predicaments and our shortcomings.

“How many people have you helped and taken care of? Go and show love and mercy,” he said.

He praised the Speaker for his leadership and collaboration with the other arms of government saying these have kept the state strong.

“You have been a true and sensitive leader with a big heart. You have proved yourself worthy. We pray that God will continue to use you to make us smile in Lagos and also grant you your heart desires,” he said while commending President Tinubu for the steps he has taken so far.

The Archbishop ended his sermon with an advocacy for a Muslim as the governor of Lagos in 2027 arguing that this was in the spirit of religious tolerance.

“I also want to add that we have consideration for religious inclination in Lagos State. It would be 12 years in 2027 that we have been in the system together and we have been having Christians as governors.

“Now, it’s time to give our Muslim brothers a chance to govern us in Lagos State. We want to pray that when it’s time for the election, it would be a time for us to elect who will govern us in Lagos State effectively,” he said.

Tinubu @71: Why President-elect Is God’s Gift To Nigeria – Obasa

Nigeria’s President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is one of God’s gift to Nigeria, the most populous black nation on earth, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has said.

Dr. Obasa said this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, congratulating Tinubu who clocked 71 on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

The Speaker said Tinubu, ‘a puzzle too hard to crack’, equates with great men around the world whose stories show great passion and undying love for their countries and citizens.

According to him, the recent presidential election won by Asiwaju Tinubu is an icing on the cake for the President-elect, who has never shied away from being of service to God and humanity.

The Speaker recalled the sacrifice Tinubu made to take Nigeria back from the military and entrench democracy in the country, noting how difficult it is to find individuals with such level of patriotism.

“For a man whose thought at all times is about salvaging the country from economic and social bondage, victory at the recent polls came at the right time.

“There is no way Nigeria’s political story can be written without Asiwaju featuring prominently as a result of the positive roles he played before the current democratic dispensation and up till this moment.

“We believe that Almighty Allah has a reason for giving him to us in Nigeria, especially at this time of the nation’s journey. We have no doubt in his capacity to deliver. He has done it before.

“With a birthday that comes exactly two months to his oath-taking as President of Nigeria, it is not out of place to say Asiwaju is a blessing to us, one sent to put things right and lay the foundation upon which modern Nigeria would be built.

“On behalf of my family, members, staff and management of the Lagos State House of Assembly, I congratulate our dear Asiwaju on his 71st birthday and pray that Allah continue to favour him with vitality, good health and wisdom to navigate our country out of the woods, amin,” Obasa prayed.

How Ayu Collected One Billion From Presidential Aspirant In Lagos – WikeRivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu took money from a presidential candidate in Lagos State.
The PDP chieftain who spoke on Friday challenged Ayu to deny the claims, noting that he has evidence. Wike, however, refused to mention the individual who Ayu collected the money from.

Wike who said he was hugely pained that he was unable to win the PDP’s presidential primary and go on to battle the All Progressives Congress, APC, said the money Ayu collected did not enter PDP‘s account.

He said: “Will he deny the fact that he did not collect one billion naira from Lagos? Yes, let him deny it, I will tell him who gave him the money.

“Not Lagos state government, but someone in Lagos. The money was given to him in Lagos. He met one of the presidential aspirants and told him he was not sure state governors would want to sponsor the party.

“Let Ayu say no, I will even call some of the businessmen and how the money was arranged in Lagos. That money did not enter the account of PDP. But we are not attacking Ayu on that basis,” Wike said during an interview on Channels on Friday, Naija News reports.

Wike stressed that he has a good relationship with the party and that is why he is making sure candidates that emerge in my state win in the 2023 general elections.

Returning to the call for Ayu’s resignation, Wike said the issue as it is today is that as it is provided in the constitution of the party that there shall be zoning of party offices and elective offices.

“It is made clear and what should be and what should be done. People in the system now manipulate things and would not let the public know the truth.”

We Brought You From Gutter To Be PDP Chairman – Wike Replies Ayu

In his usual style, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has come down hard on the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, warning the former Senate President not be an ingrate as he was brought from the gutter to become the party’s National Chairman.

Wike was speaking on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

What Ayu Said

Ayu, who many political analysts have described as “a spent force who was in political limbo” had granted an interview to BBC Hausa on Wednesday after the reception for former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekau, who re-joined the PDP.

He had emerged Chairman after a long absence from the political space. Wike was credited with his emergence after an official visit to the state when it was concluded that Uche Secondus would go as the party’s National Chairman.

He alongside the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, pushed for his emergence, which worked.

Ayu said, “When we started the PDP journey, we did not see these children. They are children who do not know why we established this party,” he had said.

“We will not allow one person to come and destroy our party.”

Wike’s Reply

But as he is wont to do, the governor replied Ayu while inaugurating roads in Ikwerre LGA of the state, warning Ayu that he should not be an ingrate.

“You can imagine what power can do. You can imagine how ingratitude — how people can be ingrates in their lives,” Wike said.

“I thought as a chairman of a party who wants to win elections, your business is to bring peace to your party; your business is not to divide your party. Your business is not to show arrogance to your party.

“Yes, the children brought you to be chairman of the party. The children brought you from the gutter to make you chairman.

“Ayu, you were impeached as senate president. Ayu, you were sacked by Obasanjo in his administration. Arrogance cannot take you anywhere.

“Now, we have seen that you don’t want the party to win the election. We will help you.

“These children — these people you call boys — brought you from nothing.”

He accused Ayu of sitting pretty as chairman because of the billions of naira in the PDP coffers which were made from the sale of forms during the party’s primary elections.

PDP Crisis

The crisis in the PDP began after the conclusion of the presidential primary election and the selection of Vice Presidential Candidate.

While Wike had emerged second to the presidential standard bearer, Atiku Abubakar, in the May election, he expected to be chosen as the running mate.

Atiku settled for Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta State governor, by overruling the decision of the selection committee set up by the party.

The crisis has festered with war of words complicating the already difficult situation, which has stopped the setting up of the PDP Campaign Council.
