Amanyanabo of the Chiefdom and Principalities of the Source, Elem Kalabari, Torusarama Piri, Kingdom of Kalabari, Da Amakiri Tubo, Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, mni, on the 20th anniversary of his ascension to the throne.

In a congratulatory message issued on October 27, 2026, Dokubo-Asari described the Sultan’s two decades on the throne as a remarkable period of dedicated service, spiritual leadership, cultural preservation and commitment to peace and national unity.

The traditional ruler, who conveyed his message on behalf of his family, the people of Elem Kalabari, Torusarama Piri and the entire Kalabari Kingdom, said the milestone reflected the Sultan’s sacrifice, wisdom, patience and commitment to the Muslim Ummah and Nigeria.

He noted that the Sultan’s role as the traditional and spiritual head of the Sokoto Sultanate, as well as President-General of the NSCIA, had underscored the importance of traditional and religious institutions in promoting moral guidance, cultural heritage, religious tolerance and national cohesion.

“A throne is not merely a symbol of authority or historical inheritance; it is a sacred trust, demanding justice, humility, compassion, courage and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people,” Dokubo-Asari said.

He described the Sultan’s 20-year reign as a significant demonstration of that responsibility.

Dokubo-Asari also urged the Sultan to continue using his influence to promote peace, dialogue, religious tolerance and national unity, particularly at a time Nigeria is facing insecurity, economic hardship and social divisions.

He said Nigeria needed leaders whose voices unite rather than divide, promote dialogue rather than hostility and inspire hope rather than despair.

The Amanyanabo further encouraged the Sultan to continue guiding younger generations, strengthening brotherhood among Muslims and promoting peaceful relationships among people of different faiths, ethnicities and communities.

Dokubo-Asari reaffirmed his solidarity with the Sultan, stressing that traditional institutions across Nigeria, despite their cultural and geographical differences, share a responsibility to protect the dignity of their people, preserve their heritage, promote peace and leave enduring legacies for future generations.

He said the 20th anniversary should not only mark the years already spent on the throne but should also usher in a new chapter of greater service and accomplishments for the Sultanate of Sokoto, the Muslim Ummah and Nigeria.

He prayed for Allah to grant the Sultan sound health, wisdom, strength and divine guidance, while also seeking continued protection for the Sultan and his family.

Dokubo-Asari further prayed for the preservation of the heritage of the Sokoto Caliphate, stronger unity among Nigeria’s traditional rulers and lasting peace, justice, security and prosperity across the country.

“Congratulations, Your Eminence, on twenty remarkable years on the throne. May Allah grant you many more years of honourable service, sound leadership and enduring impact, and may the legacy of your reign continue to inspire generations yet unborn,” he said.

The message was signed by Al Humphrey Onyanabo.
