‘’Anambra Election Was Rigged, We Will Use Legal Means To Restore Our Mandate ’’ – APC Candidate, Andy Uba

The Senator Andy Uba Campaign Organisation has rejected the result of the just-concluded Anambra state governorship election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The campaign organisation described the outcome of the election as a charade, adding that it did not reflect the wishes of the people of the state.

In a statement signed on Thursday in Abuja on behalf of the campaign organisation, Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe, alleged that the candidate of the APC, Senator Andy Uba is a victim of widespread electoral fraud and manipulation by INEC.

“The elections were characterised by widespread irregularities, intimidation, and voter suppression in order to clear the path for the inglorious ‘victory’ of APGA in the polls.

For instance, in polling units where the Biometric Voters’ Accreditation System malfunctioned, INEC went ahead to conduct the elections manually. There were numerous cases where votes announced by INEC exceeded the number of accredited voters in polling units.

“Another clear manifestation of collusion between the Obiano administration and INEC was the publishing of results on the social media handles of APGA even before the official announcement by INEC. Yet mysteriously, the votes announced in advance by APGA always corresponded correctly with the official figures released by INEC. “It is inconceivable that our candidate, who polled over 200,000 votes in the APC primary election would be allocated slightly above 43,000 votes by INEC.

“It is surprising that APGA that lost almost 80% of its stalwarts through defection to the APC before the election came out ‘victorious.’” According to the statement, the only people remaining in APGA at the time of the election were Governor Obiano, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, and their households. Ugokwe added: “There was definitely no way the carcass of APGA could have defeated the APC without the active collusion and manipulation by INEC and the Obiano administration.”

The campaign group appealed to the APC supporters to remain peaceful and calm, saying the party will use legal means to recover its electoral mandate.

Senate Directs PDP, APC, APGA, Others To Use Direct Primary Mode

Senate Directs PDP, APC, APGA, Others To Use Direct Primary Mode

The Senate on Tuesday approved that all political parties must use the direct primary mode in picking candidates.
The Nigeria senate approved four clauses in the electoral act amendment bill.

Recall that former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had noted that while Nigerians are concerned about the absence of electronic transmission of results in the proposed amendment to the Electoral Act, there is another potential problem in the Act that may clog the nation’s electoral process.

While identifying this problem in the proposed law as the provision which makes direct primaries compulsory for parties, he urged members of the National Assembly to save the country from the trouble that will be caused by the proposal to make direct primaries compulsory.

Saraki, who stated this in a statement issued yesterday by his spokesman, Yusuph Olaniyonu, observed that many of the political parties lack the necessary infrastructure to successfully conduct direct primaries at all levels, while the attempt would lead to litigations that might jeopardize the general election.

The former Senate President, who urged federal lawmakers not to create a new problem in a bid to solve another, said the direct primaries option will also put pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), whose officials must monitor all the primary elections.

Ifako-Ijaye: Trouble Looms As APC Leaders Ignore Asiwaju’s Order…Turn Primary Election Into Jankara Market

Not unaware of how some party elders and others in APC in Lagos state use his name to perpetuate all kinds of shenanigans to subvert smooth electoral process, APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as regards APC primary election towards upcoming chairmanship election in the state, days ago made a categorical statement that he didn’t endorse any aspirants and that such tales should not be entertained.

He went further to charge the party officials and other leaders that they should ensure the process of the election is transparent and all aspirants are given equal opportunities.

Meanwhile, against the order and counsel of the former governor, Tinubu, news are making round that some party elders in some local government ahead of the commencement of the primary election have turned the whole process in to an ugly and worrisome situation as they are alleged to have seen opportunity to make brisk money in the affair.

A source particularly made preference to the situation in Ifako-Ijaye where he alleged the APC leaders have turned themselves to money mongers thereby jettisoned ideal arrangement to one that will ensure their pockets are swollen. They are alleged to have collected huge amount of money from a particular aspirant who now banks on that to win the election.

Meanwhile, according to source, the situation is beginning to generate tension as observation revealed things might result into a crisis and chaos because supporters of other aspirants who had hitherto prepared for a free and fair election are aware of the plot by the leaders and the particular aspirant and they are poised to ensure no aspirant is shortchanged.

Aregbesola shades Omisore: Beware of APC members dancing on Ige’s grave

MINISTER of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Sunday warned that people that lacked his kind of political pedigree could not displace him in the fold of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State.

This is according to a statement signed by Sola Fasure, the Media Adviser to the minister who is the immediate past governor of Osun State. Aregbesola had visited Ilesa on Friday to revalidate his APC membership, where he addressed his supporters.

The statement read in part, “Ogbeni Aregbesola reminded the people that Chief Bola Ige was their leader and stood all his life for a compassionate government, commitment to the good of the majority and ideas that would bring the good life, happiness, progress and security to the people. He urged them to be conscious of those who continue to dance on Ige’s grave and avoid anything that would dishonour the late statesman’s memory.

“Ogbeni Aregbesola assured the people of working towards greater success of the party and of his commitment to progressive ideals. He reminded them that he emerged in Osun on the Oranmiyan platform 17 years ago, and with others fought the agents of darkness and regression and firmly consolidated the party in the state.

“This effort has produced two successive progressive administrations in the state and also won presidential and national legislative elections thrice since then, noting that it would be difficult for those who lack such pedigree to displace him in the party in the state.”

Though the former Governor’s statement seems open enough but those who are familiar with the political intrigues in the State will know it is systemic shade at the one time Deputy Governor of the State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who just recently announced his total defection to the APC. Omisore was accused of having a hand in the death of Chief Bola Ige, though he was never found guilty but the accusation was used by Oranmiyan group to campaign against the one time senator while the minister was vying the topmost position in the State.

It is therefore very clear those Aregbesola claimed that some members of the party are dancing on Bola Ige’s grave, since Omisore was pinned with the death of the former attorney general of the federation who was murdered in his home some years back.
