The presidency has stated that Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, must submit himself to security agencies.
Naija News reports that the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, had on Friday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to forgive Sunday Igboho over his agitation for the Yoruba nation.
The monarch urged the President to withdraw security operatives from hunting the activist, adding that he has warned him on his approach of agitation.
Oba Akanbi further stated that he has forgiven Igboho even though Igboho insulted him.
The monarch cited the cases of the late politician, MKO Abiola and late activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa, who died in the course of fighting for the freedom of their people, as a lesson for Igboho and other agitations.
“He has pledged his readiness to listen to us,” the Oluwo had said.
“I promise your Excellency that Igboho will mind his steps henceforth. He has suffered a lot.
“He would step down agitations. I will bring him for a peace talk at an appropriate time.”
But speaking to TheNation, a presidential source said only the Director of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) could determine Igboho’s fate.
“The Oluwo is one of those who are supporting the government and offering advice from time to time. We have read what he wrote,” the source said.
“But only the DSS, the police and the AGF can determine how Igboho’s case will be treated. They can decide his fate.”
A security source said: “It will be difficult to adopt a different approach for Igboho. Before the negotiation, he must first of all respect the law of the land by surrendering.
“He is promoting secession, which is treasonable. The question of peace talks is political. Let him honour security agencies’ summons before seeking refuge.
“Security agents recovered arms from his residence. We have some of his aides with us and they have made some revelations. He needs to come and clarify a few things.”
The federal government has inaugurated a 10-man committee to resolve the dispute between the Kaduna State government and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC). The government charged the committee to ensure the return of industrial peace to Kaduna in the shortest time possible in line with the expectation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The committee has 21 days to complete its work and report back to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The peace committee was to have been inaugurated over month ago but the state government withdrew from the talks after accusing the NLC of precipitating an illegal protest that disrupted activities in the state.
A statement issued by Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr. Charles Akpan, on Saturday said the minister, Senator Chris Ngige, had inaugurated a new committee headed by Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Peter Yemira Tarfa, to try to resolve the labour dispute.
The committee has Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Balarabe Lawal, and Deputy National President of NLC, Najim Hashim, as co-chairmen, while Director, Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mrs. Omoabi Akpan, will serve as secretary.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ngige recalled that the federal government had stopped the strike initiated by the NLC in Kaduna State in May, with the parties signing a Memorandum of Understanding to restore peace, noting that intervening circumstances made the reconstitution of the committee inevitable.
According to him, the committee was expected to resolve all the issues in dispute between the Kaduna State government and NLC.
The minister acknowledged that the issues in contention bordered essentially on trade dispute. He charged the expanded committee to resolve the issues holistically and be guided by the 1999 Constitution as well as labour laws of the federation.
Ngige explained that downsizing or rightsizing of workforce in any organisation, government or private sector, was a redundancy issue, which must be subjected to the principles spelt out in the Trade Disputes Act, Laws of the Federation 2004 Cap L1.
He stated, “The law says in Section 20 (A) that ‘in the event of redundancy, every employer shall inform the trade unions or representatives of workers concerned of the reasons for or the extent of their anticipated redundancy.’
“Section B equally states that the principles of last in, first out shall be adopted in the discharge of the category of workers affected, subject to all factors of relative merit, including skill, ability and any reliability.
“So, in applying this, we must subject it to the relativity of merit, skill, ability and reliability. If somebody has a forged certificate, he should be asked to go because he didn’t merit the job in the first instance.
“If you go to a nursing home and find somebody working in the ward with a Bachelor’s degree in History, he stands disqualified, because he doesn’t have the skill in the first place. He has to go. So, these are the qualifications that must be noted in this principle of last in, first out. It is not absolute. It has exceptions and qualifications.”
The minister noted that the employer had the right to reduce staff strength of his organisation but was bound by law to negotiate redundancy payment to any discharged worker. He further stated that there was nothing wrong with Kaduna State government stopping the expenditure of 96 per cent of its earnings on personnel cost in order to save enough for capital projects, but that it should be done within the ambit of the law.
Ngige informed the committee of Buhari’s expectation of speedy return of industrial harmony in Kaduna State.
Speaking also, Lawal gave assurances of the state government for the restoration of industrial harmony, adding that Kaduna is not at war with labour.
In his remarks, President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, assured the committee of labour’s commitment to the resolution of the impasse in Kaduna State.
Commotion As Oniraniken, Oba Adewale Adeniji Stockpiles Arms For Land Grabbers – Invades, Unleashes Mayhem On Ogun Community
The residents of Okerala Odofin, Okelara Apena Seriki village, Okerala Tarogun village, IpaVillage, Ososa Village, Simawa in area of Sagamu, Ogun State are currently living in fear over series of attacks by unknown gunmen disguised as land grabbers which reportedly have backings of the traditional ruler, Oniraniken Of Iraniken, Oba Adewale Adeniji.
It would be recalled that Family members of the Oniraniken, Sagamu, Ogun State, have disagreed with the traditional ruler over his alleged claim that a disputed farmland around Okerala, Simawa area of Sagamu, measuring 4,000 hectares, was an inheritance from his forebears.
While some residents have fled the areas for safety, others who have no place to go were forced to live in fear.
However, a source has confirmed to our reporter that the monarch takes pleasure in unleashing mayhem on these communities simply because of a bogus court verdict in his possession.
“The usual way of land grabbers hoax is to divide themselves into two; to represent two families in court, and they always attend every court proceeding without the consent or knowledge of the main family they took to court; whereas the inhabitants of those areas he said he got judgment were not even informed about any court case”. This is how Oniraniken, Oba Adewale Adeniji and his cohorts got their supposed 1,000 hectares of land, but duplicitously translated the verdict to be 4,000 hectares; and then started confiscating other people’s land”.
‘In quest for justice, Indigenes of the community staged a peaceful protest to the Governor’s Office, also to Akarigbo of Remo and some other significant quarters.’
Oniraniken of Iraniken, Oba Adewale Adeniji Resorted To Self-Help:
The recent Judicial Staff Association of Nigeria (JUSUN) closure and court embarking on strike caused a delay in various positive actions.
Our source said: “The court ambiguity gave the monarch a fortuitous audacity to take laws into his own hands. He started giving some mobsters weaponries and other dangerous objects to terrorize and sack the people from their farmland. Using land grabbers to forcefully take over about 4,000 hectares of farmland belonging to 14 Makun communities”.
When our reporter visited the region, some of the residents shared their ugly experiences in the hands of the hoodlums even as they made it clear that their lives is no longer safe as kidnappings, robberies and other heinous attacks are main areas of focus for these criminals just to force them vacate the community belonging to them.
Divine Intervention:
On receiving an intelligence report, special strike force from the office of Inspector General of Police came to rescue and apprehended three of the gunmen who allegedly took part in the ill-fated land grabbing exercise at Oke Rala village, Simawa area of Sagamu, Ogun state.
The Police force special squad said: “It received distress calls from residents of Shimawa over killings, kidnapping, banditry and armed robbery which made them swing into action. During the operation, One locally-made pistol, two caliber pistols, several live cartridges and expended cartridges were recovered from the land grabbers while others are at large”.
The three suspects arrested are Afeez Sunday; 41yrs old “m” of Ikorodu LGA, Surajudeem Isiaka; 33yrs old “m” of Ikorodu, and one Muranikeji Ogunkeye; 32yrs old “m” of Lagos state. They have since on Thursday whisked away to Abuja by the special force for questioning. Their alleged sponsor, Oba Adewale Adeniji was also declared wanted by the Police force after searching his palace but noticed the troublemaker had absconded.
Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, has provided insight as to why top pastors in Nigeria never liked the senior prophet of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, Temitope Balogun Joshua, aka, T.B Joshua.
T.B Joshua died on June 5, 2021 and was laid to rest at his church on Friday. The funeral service saw the presence of top politicians, entertainers, businessmen, and women from all over the world
However, top ‘men of God’ in the country totally shunned the funeral service, the same way none of them condoled with his family or SCOAN when he passed on.
But in a statement to DAILY POST on Saturday, Pastor Giwa suggested that these pastors may have hated Joshua because he refused to join their league.
When he was alive, Prophet TB Joshua was surrounded by friends than enemies. Even in death, the prophet still had more friends than enemies. Those celebrating him after death are more than those who are criticizing him. He had come, seen, and conquered.
He had money to buy more than 10 private jets, but he never bought one. Prophet Joshua could afford to build private universities across Nigeria and the world, but he didn’t have one.
They hated him because he refused to join their caucuses or leagues. Maybe if he had succumbed and did what they wanted him to do, they would have honored him as one of them.
A man who never had a spiritual father(s), but suddenly rose to fame. He never thought of opening another branch of his church in America, London or anywhere in the world aside the one at Ikotun Egbe in Lagos, Nigeria. TB Joshua had a humble and submissive heart.
”God doesn’t look at the outward appearance but looks at the heart. No matter how powerful and strong you are, death is inevitable. If God is for you, who can be against you?
”The media only cares about the so-called top men of God who didn’t send their greetings or attended the burial ceremony. Even the Jews, up till now still don’t believe in Jesus Christ.
”Also, in Nazareth where Jesus grew up, they refused to believe in his teaching because they considered him one of them, therefore without the authority to preach to them. Are you God who sees the innermost thoughts, feelings, or secrets of others?
”First, take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Whatever you have here on earth won’t go with you after death. We came with nothing and go with nothing.”
One of the disciples of the late founder of Synagogue Church of All Nation, Prophet T B Joshua, Prophet Chris, on Friday revealed the secret of his master.
Prophet Chris while preaching at the church prior to the interment service of the televangelist, said the miracles performed by the cleric was due to his relationship with the supreme God.
He further stated that the founder of SCOAN drew his power from his love for God and humanity.
Chris added that his master was never moved by the statement of his critics who questioned the source of his power.
He said, “The secret of Prophet TB Joshua’s ministry in front of this altar is his lifestyle behind the altar.”
“The remarkable results we all see on Emmanuel TV effortless healing, instant deliverance, accurate prophecy, profound teaching, spontaneous miracles is just an overflow of his relationship with God. In a generation so full of fake things, Prophet TB Joshua was the real deal!”
Prophet Chris further said, “He did not see any fight as a personal challenge but one against his God.”
“He left every battle for God and let his future answer the questions.”
“He gave himself to prayer and refused to be offended.”
“He was accessible but untouchable – tested by the fire of life and proven by the test of time! His consistency testified to his authenticity! #TBJoshuaLegacy”.
JOURNALIST WHO ESCAPED FROM KIDNAPPERS’ DEN, OLUWOL E OBAFEMI NARRATES HIS EXPERIENCE
OLUWOLE OBAFEMI
A freelance journalist, Oluwole Obafemi has regained his freedom from his captors as he managed to escape from the camp of kidnappers who picked him along seven others on Benin/Ore Expressway, Society Gazette can report.
Obafemi and other passengers of a vehicle that was Ondo State bound were unfortunate to have been kidnapped on dreaded Benin/Ore expressway. The incident happened on 25th June, 2021. Obafemi was however lucky to have seen an escape route after five days in the kidnappers den.
Oabafemi, a former staff of popular media organization, MITV/Star Fm, narrated his ordeal in the hands of his captors whom he said were young Fulani men.
“I was going to Akure in Ondo state and I boarded the Bus from Ojota. The journey had been smooth until we got to Benin/Ore road. The driver noticed a barrier on the road and slowed down, and before we knew it, some armed men numbering about five jumped out from the bush. They collected all our valuables and picked eight of us from the Bus and marched us into the bush.” Obafemi explained.
He narrated to Society Gazette the young Fulani boys were basically out to make money. He however said they kidnappers didn’t ask them to contact their families until following day, after they had been made to walk long miles away from point of abduction.
“Our abductors were young Fulani men and they were out to make money. From the point we were abducted, we were made to walk several miles so as to beat security operatives who might been on their trail. It was in the afternoon of the following day that we were properly settled. The worst experience was the torture they meted on us so we could put pressure on our families members to pay the demanded ransom on time.”
Obafemi said he was unlucky to have got tortured than others because his family were only begging the kidnappers to let go of him and that they had no money to pay.
“My case was a peculiar one because I was seriously beaten because my family could not raise 10million naira they were demanding or even less. Two of us had were released three days after, when their families paid their ransom. They could not pay the demanded amount but they bargained and paid what they had. I was constantly getting beaten because my family could not raise the money. I was however lucky on the fifth day when the abductors led other abductees to go and drink from a stream in the bush. They considered me too weak to walk out of beaten I had received, so while they were away, I mustered the strength I could and escaped. I walked for hours before I got to a settlement where the dwellers assisted me to locate the main road.” Obafemi said.
The lucky freelance photo/camera journalist who travels around the country to source for materials for his job urged the government to pay attention to the issue of kidnapping because of the alarming rate it is assuming.
It is on record that thousands have been victims of kidnappers around the country and paid huge ransom for their freedom. Many have equally been unlucky not to return. Some die as a result of torture, long trek, while some were killed by their abductors for not been able to pay up ransom. In the same way, many have not recovered from encounter of such horrific experience.
