A viral video has sparked outrage after it captured the moment a policeman demanded either ₦5,000 or five litres of fuel from motorists for failing to provide a proof of Electronic Central Motor Registry.
Recall that in July 2024, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, suspended the enforcement of ECMR registration for vehicle owners in the country after an outcry from Nigerians, who accused the police of creating an opportunity to extort vehicle owners.
The footage, shared on Sunday by X.com user Teniola (@Teeniiola), shows the officer confronting a group of travellers along the Benin Bypass, asking for the ECMR.
In the video, one travellers firmly told the officer that demanding ECMR enforcement was illegal.
The officer responded, saying, “You can make call now.”
When the traveller declined to call anyone, asking instead, “What do you want us to do?” the officer demanded five litres of fuel, stating, “We’ll go and buy it, that’s 5k.”
“You want 5k from each of us abi?” The traveler asked, as the policeman was seen telling another traveller to bring three litres of fuel.
The video has reignited concerns over extortion and misconduct by law enforcement officials, despite prior directives from police leadership.
Reacting to the video, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Edafe Bright, condemned the officer’s actions, posting on X, “My God. Thanks for recording this. Little by little, all the moles will be taken out of the system.
“All these Policemen bringing shame to us, one by one, they will be sent out of the organisation. Maybe when they become jobless, they will go into content creation. This is embarrassing and the force is on it.”

The Katsina State Police Command, on Sunday, arrested a 25-year-old housewife in connection with the death of her co-wife.
The incident occurred behind Dadi Primary School, Sabon Gari Area of Daura town, Daura Local Government Area of the state when a domestic dispute between co-wives escalated into a fatal confrontation.
This is contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Katsina.
The statement reads, “On May 24, 2025, at about 2300 hours (11pm), a report was received at the Sabon Gari Division through one Nasir Yusuf, the husband, that he had returned home from the market and found his first wife, namely, Zainab Lawal ‘F’, 30 years old, lying in a pool of blood; she had been stabbed multiple times with a knife.
“Upon receipt of the report, quickly, the DPO led a team of operatives to the scene and subsequently rushed the victim to Federal Medical Centre, Daura for medical attention, where she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
“During the investigation, her co-wife, one Rabi’a Labaran ‘F’, 23 years old, of the same address, was arrested in connection with the offence, where she confessed to the commission of the offence, stating that a misunderstanding with the deceased led to a scuffle and the tragic incident. Investigation is ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, urges members of the public to shun all acts of domestic violence and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, instead seeking legal means for redress in cases of disputes, as vigilantism only perpetuates harm and undermines the rule of law.”
US President Donald Trump called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin “crazy” on Sunday after Moscow launched a deadly barrage of drones against Ukraine, even as the warring countries completed a large-scale prisoner exchange.
At least 13 people were killed when Russia launched a record number of drones against Ukraine overnight to Sunday.
”I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
”I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!” he added.
His comments marked a rare rebuke to Putin, who he often speaks of with admiration. The US leader has, however, expressed increasing frustration with Moscow’s position in deadlocked truce negotiations with Kyiv.
Earlier Sunday, Trump told reporters he was “not happy” about the latest attack on Ukraine and that he was “absolutely” considering increasing sanctions on Moscow.
”I’ve known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all,” he said.
- ‘Terror’ –
Ukraine’s emergency services described Sunday an atmosphere of “terror” in the country after a second straight night of massive Russian air strikes, including on the capital Kyiv.
Those killed in the latest Russian strikes included victims aged eight, 12, and 17 in the northwestern region of Zhytomyr, officials said.
”Without truly strong pressure on the Russian leadership, this brutality cannot be stopped,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media.
”The silence of America, the silence of others around the world only encourages Putin,” he said, adding: “Sanctions will certainly help.”
In his social media post, Trump also criticized Zelensky, a frequent target of his ire, accusing him of “doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does.”
”Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop,” he said.
The European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, also called for “the strongest international pressure on Russia to stop this war.”
”Last night’s attacks again show Russia bent on more suffering and the annihilation of Ukraine,” she said on social media.
- Call for sanctions –
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul also denounced the attacks.
”Putin does not want peace, he wants to carry on the war and we shouldn’t allow him to do this,” he said. “For this reason we will approve further sanctions at a European level.”
Ukraine’s military said on Sunday it had shot down a total of 45 Russian missiles and 266 attack drones overnight.
Air force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said 298 drones were launched, adding that this was “the highest number ever.”
Four people were reported killed in Ukraine’s western Khmelnytskyi region, and four in the Kyiv region.
Two people were killed in the southern Mykolaiv region.
”We saw the whole street was on fire,” a 65-year-old retired woman, Tetiana Iankovska, told AFP in Markhalivka village just southwest of Kyiv.
Russia said its strikes were aimed at Ukraine’s “military-industrial complex” and that it had brought down 110 Ukrainian drones.
The previous night, Russia had launched 14 ballistic missiles and 250 drones, wounding 15 people, according to Ukrainian officials.
Flights at Moscow airports suffered temporary closures due to Ukrainian drone activity on Sunday but no injuries were reported, officials said.
Ukrainian officials also reported Russian strikes overnight to Monday, but not on the same scale.
Two people were injured and a house was destroyed in the Zaporizhzhia region when “the enemy struck the village of Yurkivka”, Ivan Fedorov, the governor of the region, said in a Telegram post.
- Major prisoner exchange –
The massive strikes on Ukraine came as Russia said it had exchanged another 303 Ukrainian prisoners of war for the same number of Russian soldiers held by Kyiv — the last phase of a swap agreed during talks in Istanbul on May 16.
That marked their biggest prisoner swap since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, with 1,000 captured soldiers and civilian prisoners in total sent back by each side.
Zelensky confirmed the swap was complete.
An AFP reporter saw some of the formerly captive Ukrainian soldiers arrive at a hospital in the northern Chernigiv region, emaciated but smiling and waving to crowds.
One former captive, 58-year-old Viktor Syvak, told AFP he was overcome by the emotional homecoming.
Captured in the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol, he had been held for 37 months and 12 days.
”It’s impossible to describe. I can’t put it into words,” he said of the release.
The Edo State government is on top of the security situation arising from the mob killings of innocent Nigerians at Uromi. The government has long banned all illegal vigilante groups operating in the state. These groups were created under the previous PDP-led administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki but were still operating.
All the vigilantes had been asked to disarm but these ones continued to operate illegally. The killing of 16 Nigerians in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, over the weekend has now been linked to these groups.
Governor Monday Okpebholo has therefore ordered security agencies to take firm action against the groups. He has also suspended the Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, CP. Friday Ibadin (Rtd.), pending further investigations.
“The local vigilante group involved in the killings was never profiled or registered with the Edo State Security Corps,” and “Its actions do not reflect the principles of the Okpebholo administration”.
So far, 14 suspects have been arrested. A special police team set up by the Inspector General of Police is hunting others involved in the attack.
The Senator Okpehbholo led State government is assuring residents that justice would be served. It urged the public to remain calm while security agencies work to restore order.

Russia downed 77 Ukrainian drones overnight, its defence ministry said Thursday, two days after Kyiv carried out its largest direct strike on Moscow during the three-year war.
Thirty drones were intercepted and destroyed over the western Bryansk region bordering Ukraine while 25 more were downed over Kaluga, the ministry said in a statement.
More drones were intercepted over the regions of Kursk, Voronezh, Rostov and Belgorod, it added.
The latest barrage comes after Russia downed more than 90 drones in the capital region on Tuesday. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called it the “most massive enemy drone attack on Moscow”.
Russia said three people died and several more were injured in Tuesday’s attack, which saw it intercept 337 Ukrainian drones across the country.
Multiple Ukrainian cities were also under attack Thursday morning, with a 42-year-old woman killed in Kherson, according to regional military administration head Roman Mrochko.
Authorities in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk also reported coming under attack early Thursday.
The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in the Unguwar Sarkin Fulani Dutsen Dadi community of Faskari Local Government Area and rescued 30 residents abducted by bandits on Wednesday.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement released on Wednesday, describing it as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and banditry under the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa.
According to the statement, “Today, March 12, 2025, at about 01:00 hrs, information was received at the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters that suspected armed bandits, in large numbers and armed with dangerous weapons, attacked Unguwar Sarkin Fulani Dutsen Dadi via Tafoki village, Faskari LGA, kidnapping 30 residents while rustling two cows, 92 sheep, and goats.
“Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Faskari swiftly mobilised an APC patrol team to the scene.
“The team tactically ambushed the suspected kidnappers and engaged them in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to flee with various degrees of injuries. All 30 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt, and the rustled animals were recovered.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, while commending the officers for their professionalism and bravery during the daring rescue operation, urged the good people of the state to continue cooperating with the command by providing timely and accurate information for prompt and decisive action against criminal elements,” Sadiq added.
A 21-year-old notorious bandit leader, Salisu Mohammed, popularly known as Dogo Saleh, met his end at the hands of his gang members after being arrested by the operatives of FCT Police Command.
Dogo Saleh identified as a hitman for criminal gangs operating in Rijana Forest, Kaduna State, had been responsible for multiple kidnappings and killings along the Kaduna-Lokoja-Enugu highway.
The FCT command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, issued a statement on Wednesday stating that police acting on intelligence conducted a covert operation to intercept Dogo Saleh at Gidan Abe Forest on March 3, while he was en route to Bwari Area Council, FCT.
Adeh stated that during the initial encounter, police operatives arrested Dogo Saleh, recovering an AK-49 rifle, two magazines, 60 rounds of live ammunition, and ₦3m suspected to be ransom proceeds.
She added that after gathering from the arrested suspect, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command launched a follow-up raid on March 4, 2025, at a known bandit hideout in Kwasau Forest, Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State, where his gang, led by one Abdu Musa, alias “Kanabaro,” had established a major hideout.
She noted that operatives were ambushed by armed bandits attempting to free their leader.
“The operatives swiftly engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, displaying superior tactical expertise and resilience. The bandits were ultimately overpowered and forced to flee into the forest with severe gunshot wounds. The suspect sustained fatal gunshot wounds inflicted by his own gang during the crossfire. He was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead,” Adeh said.
Stating the criminal activities linked to Dogo Saleh, Adeh said he was responsible for the abduction of a police officer’s family and the killing of two security personnel in a January 5, 2025, attack at Kujama Market, Kaduna.
“Other attacks linked to Dogo Saleh include: Kyauta Village, Chikun LGA (two years ago) – Two individuals, including a security officer, were kidnapped. Ransom collected: Millions of Naira The officer was later killed. Kike Village (one year ago) – A security officer’s wife was kidnapped. Ransom collected: millions of naira; Bagada Village (five months ago) – Three individuals kidnapped. Adeh also said his gang was also known for working with the Ansaru terrorist group to procure weapons. She stated that Boka, the overall commander; Sharmi (surname unknown), Deputy; Dogo Saleh, assistant; and Gudan, an assistant who operated a sub-camp in the forest, had been eliminated in separate operations.
“The bandits’ hideout was successfully dislodged. One officer, the Inspector of the FCT Anti-Kidnapping Unit, sustained minor injuries and has since been treated and discharged. No other casualties were recorded,” she added.
Adeh said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, praised the officers for their bravery and assured residents of ongoing operations to capture fleeing gang members.
He urged the public to report suspicious activities via police emergency lines.
Comedian and skit maker, Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has claimed that he has eight videos of other men sleeping with his estranged wife, Dara, aside from Yoruba Nollywood actor, Baba Tee, who recently admitted sleeping with her.
The comedian disclosed this during an interview with media personality, Daddy Freeze, via Instagram livestream on Monday night. He admitted that it was so painful watching the men have rough sex with his wife.
“I have eight videos of other men sleeping with my wife aside from Baba Tee. It’s so painful. I watched how these men were spanking her.
“So, if she behaves like that as a single mother, it does not mean all single mothers will behave like that. It is just on her will to be promiscuous. Since I left her, no woman appeals to me anymore; I have been avoiding all women. I challenge anybody to admit seeing me with any lady in a hotel since this incident happened. I’m embittered with the whole situation. She’s a bad woman.
I have had Baba Tee’s sex video with my wife since four months ago. I am looking to drop the video anytime soon,” he added. The PUNCH reports that Baba Tee backtracked and admitted that he had a “short” sexual experience with Dara.
His disclosure countered the earlier denial he made about the same issue where he challenged Lande to bring evidence that he truly slept with his wife or face the law because the comedian had defamed him.
Lande claimed that his wife left him after he discovered her alleged infidelity, stating that at least 21 men in the entertainment industry were involved with her.
Among those he called out was Baba Tee, whom he mentioned in an Instagram post and the viral interview.
Reacting to the alleged sexual affairs with Baba Tee, Lande’s estranged wife said she only sat on the actor’s legs during a “Truth and Dare” game initiated by her friend, Marygold.
Detailing how the incident unfolded, she said, “The first time I met Baba Tee was in July last year when Marygold told me we should go to his house because she wanted to invite him to the launching of her movie. When we got there, Baba Tee didn’t know I was Lande’s wife, we greeted and Marygold said she wanted to drink alcohol.
“There was no alcohol in the house, so Marygold and Baba Tee’s driver went to buy it while I sat down in the living room. Baba Tee and I didn’t talk till they returned. When Marygold entered the house, she said we should start a ‘Truth or Dare’ game. I didn’t want to, but she encouraged me, so I told Baba Tee that I was Lande’s wife, and we started the game.
“As the game was going on, Marygold stripped herself naked and gave Baba Tee a BJ. By then, I had already drunk 10 shots of alcohol while Marygold and Baba Tee were smoking ‘Igbo’ (marijuana). Marygold then dared Baba Tee to give me a doggy style, so Baba Tee went to get a condom.
“When he returned, I told him I would not allow doggy, but I would sit on him. We then told Marygold to turn to the wall so she wouldn’t watch us. I only sat on his lap; we didn’t do anything.”
The Police Command in Lagos State has sealed a church over the alleged killing of a 28-year-old graduate of Lagos State University, Adedamola Ogunbode.
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development while briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Monday.
Hundeyin said that the church where some people alleged that the missing boy was killed and buried had been sealed to prevent it from being burned.
“The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance and we do not want that to happen.
“It is still a suspected crime scene, we still need to go over it, we may need to revisit that scene multiple times for us to gather evidential value.
“The church has been sealed for now to prevent it from being burned. And we assure the public that updates will be given about the investigation and the progress we have made as soon as we get new updates,” he said.
The PPRO said that three suspects have been detained so far.
“We have three suspects, the pastor and two others in custody, and the case is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department,” he said.
According to him, efforts are underway to apprehend five other suspects, two of the five suspects are outside the country in Benin Republic.
Hundeyin in a statement on Friday said that the matter was no longer a case of missing person but suspected murder.
“Investigation has been intensified to locate the body of the deceased and uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
“Among the five suspects into whose accounts money was moved from the victim’s account, three suspects had been apprehended and in police custody,” he said.
Hundeyin said that the State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, assured intensive investigation.
“CP Jimoh has assured the public that the command is fully committed to resolving the matter and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
CP Jimoh calls for restraint from actions that could potentially hinder or interfere with the ongoing investigative efforts,” he stated.
Ifeanyi Omeke, the Man who Allegedly Helped Former CBN Gov Emefiele invest Stolen $2 million
A wise man says, if there are nobody to cover up for evil, evil will ceased in the society. These words can be linked to Ifeanyi Omeke in the monumental fraud case involving former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele. According to court documents, it was Ifeanyi Omeke who facilitated and made it easy for Emefiele to perfect documentation and carry out various errands in relation to the fraudulent activities.
It has come to light that Ifeanyi Omeke played a crucial role in assisting Emefiele in purchasing and perfecting title documents for several properties located in highbrow areas of Lagos. This level of collaboration and complicity is deeply troubling and raises serious questions about the integrity of individuals involved in such illicit activities.
The implications of this fraud case extend far beyond just financial losses. It erodes trust in our institutions and undermines the credibility of those entrusted with positions of power and responsibility. We must hold all individuals involved in such criminal activities accountable, regardless of their stature or connections.
To allay the fair of Nigerians a thorough investigation into the extent of Omeke’s involvement in this fraud case and call for swift justice to be served. Nigerian society should not tolerate corruption and deceit at any level, and those found guilty must face the full consequences of their actions.
Appropriate authorities should take decisive action in bringing all perpetrators to justice and upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and justice in our society.
